What’s a girl to DO?! In just over a year of having #t1d, our girl got her first wonky @dexcom! At insert she exclaimed “wow! I didn’t even feeeeel that one!”. Meanwhile Mom’s first thought was “Adhesive didn’t want to stick… that’s not right.” Felt around and saw the loop…
Looked at Patrick and said “oh shit. We’ve got a loop!”, he said “ohh shit. Might as well take it off now!”, Matz was having none of it and insisted we wait😆
..Within 5 minutes, it failed. Bent needle inside the applicator, no sensor on the device itself.
Thankful for having a nice little supply of Dexcoms in our cabinet so we didn’t stress. A little giggle and now a new countdown to warm up!
Just another day in the life of a family caring for someone with T1D. We giggle, we say “fuck you, diabetes you can’t stop me!” And keep going(to the park, specifically).

Roadside #Dexcom change! Bay Area -> LA. A 6 hour drive, with built in rest time to charge the car allows for some fun with our girlies diabetes. A change in scenery for the site change, even if it’s at a picnic table at the rest stop🤪

Allows for extra interesting distractions too 🤣

Matzy’s first desk container #lowsnack restock! Trying to simplify our low situations that arise at school. We had found these cute containers on Amazon, and of course @_natalienoel surprised our girly with them! Now she’ll have convenient access to quick sugars when she needs a “pick me up” ♥️

What 24 hours of type 1 diabetes looks like with an 8 year old. We decided very quickly after @glucosee.gremlin was diagnosed with type one that we wouldn’t force her to change what she enjoys eating. That’s probably a decision that causes more work for @xosam_alex and I trying to keep her glucose in control, but the last thing we want is for her to have an unhealthy relationship with food.

We strive for days like this, don’t always have great days like this, but when she eats 55 grams of carbs worth of ice cream right before bed, and has and overnight trend that looks like that, we celebrate 🎉

Last Easter, @glucosee.gremlin was in the Pediatric ICU in DKA and we were receiving her diagnosis of type 1 diabetes. Flash forward to her first Easter as a type 1 diabetic and we were all enjoying it so much we forgot to change her @dexcom and the grace period ended midnight 🤦🏻‍♂️

She had crawled into bed with @xosam_alex and I like she does most nights. I woke up and saw the no reading. Thought about waking her up to put a new one on, but she was so peaceful and had such a long day, I didn’t want to ruin her sleep with a change, so just did a finger prick, and made sure to wake up around 330am when she typically hits her lowest point over night to shut off her basal on her pump and check her glucose. 64

5 Easter Pez later and back to sleep. Wake up to a perfect 113 glucose. Now time to get a new G7 on that little arm of hers.

Life pro tip: never miss a @klangkuenstler set. If there was one set we weren’t missing at @beyondwland it was this one. Guy is so good🔥 Can’t wait until we can get to @outworld_ofc

When @beyondwland released the set times and I saw @novah.music there I had to do a double take. Won’t get to see their b2b, but seeing Novah and @nicomoreno_music the same night was definitely special for @xosam_alex and I. They both threw down fantastic sets.

Also, I don’t look at my phone when I take videos. I just stick it up and hope for the best. Dancing with @xosam_alex is too much to care about video quality 😂. Happy this one turned out. #beyondwonderland taken in Beyond Wonderland by @pitnat
