A new kind of hub in Berlin — a home for artists who can collaborate, learn, and create together using TouchDesigner, vvvv & similar tools 🌱
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
It has been quiet around pixel.forest() recently, but here is an update we are rather sad and angry about and we are still trying to wrap our heads around this.

Sometime between July 7th to 11th, someone broke into our pixel.forest space and stole equipment. There was no broken door and no broken lock, nothing forced at all, which means whoever it was had a key they were never supposed to have. It's a weird thing to sit with, honestly, knowing that someone walked in like they belonged there and stole our community members work equipment.

They took a big workstation computer that was from @danny_m_garcia_ and the very large monitor of @pang.marta, and left everything else exactly where it was. So this wasn’t some random grab, they came for specific things and knew what they were looking for.

The hardware is one thing, but the computer held years of his personal projects and files, and that’s the part that really stings. We’ve reported it to the police and we’re doing what we can, but some of what’s gone isn’t the kind of thing you can just buy again.

It’s a custom build:
- Gainward RTX 4090 Phantom
- Intel i9-13900F
- 128 GB memory
- ASUS ROG STRIX Z690-G board
- Corsair glass tower with RGB

Plus a ThinkVision P40w-20 monitor.

The parts may well be sold separately, so even one of those turning up somewhere is worth telling us about.

If anything comes to mind, if you’ve heard something, or if someone’s tried to sell you a computer lately that felt a little off, we’d really like to know. And if the files ever found their way back to us, no questions asked, that would honestly mean more than the hardware. Even something that seems too small to matter could turn out to be the thing that helps.

You can DM us here or reach out however is easiest. Thank you for reading, and thank you for looking out for us. It means a lot right now. by @pixelforest.berlin

Looking back on three editions of dispatch so far, the last two (vol. 2 in March and vol. 3 last Friday) were also streamed live for everyone outside Berlin on our YouTube channel. Nice to see the format finding its feet, with presentations across creative coding, digital art and experimental audiovisual practices, an open A/V playground after, and a room full of people sharing tools, asking questions and connecting with each other.

Thanks to Matthias Meissen @matthiasmeissen, Mayara Stelmaschuk Melo @maymelo, Stephanie Fernandes @ste.fern, Luhas @Ltotheuhaz, RKH Studio @rkhstudio, Tiziano Mirabella @tiziano.mirabella, Joel Schaefer, Dylan Cruz @memocrime, Ployz @plyzitron, Anna Dießner annadiessner, Paulina Zybinska @kratadata, Martina Chilardi @glitcherina and Alejandra Montoya @montoyollin for sharing your work. And to everyone who came by or tuned in!

Join us for Dispatch vol.3 at pixelforest() Berlin & YouTube livestream on our special All-ladies edition!

Presenting Alejandra Montoya

Alejandra Montoya is a Mexican visual artist based in Berlin working across installation, video, live visuals, and interactive media. Using tools such as TouchDesigner, sensors, projection, AI, and ritual practices, her work explores spirituality, embodiment, migration, and ancestral knowledge through feminist decolonial perspectives. She studied Professional Photography in Mexico City and Fine Arts at the Kunsthochschule Kassel in Germany. Her work has been shown in exhibitions and film festivals across Mexico and Europe, including multiple nominations at Kasseler Dokfest.

Alejandra presents IDENTIDAD DE HUMO

Process Presentation & Live Activation

In this presentation, Alejandra shares the artistic process behind Identidad de Humo, a multimedia installation grounded on Mexica cosmogony and the concept of Tezcatlipoca, the Smoking Mirror. Combining process material, installation development, generative visuals, and interactive systems, the presentation traces how the work evolved across image, body, sound, and sensor-based activation. The presentation concludes with a live activation of the installation, which will remain accessible throughout the evening.

Join us for Dispatch vol.3 at pixelforest() Berlin & YouTube livestream on our special All-ladies edition!

Presenting Sule Suarez

I’m a multidisciplinary artist, my practice develops in the fields of  live coding,  sound and textile art. I am interested in researching topics such as memory, identity, and the body in the digital era. I graduated in Fine Arts from the National University of Colombia and I am currently a student in the Interface Cultures master’s program at the Kunstuniversität Linz. I am a co-founder and member of the Toplap Linz collective, a live coding community in Linz, Austria.

Sule presents Electric Forest

This is an audiovisual live coding performance that combines electronic rhythms and ambient sounds, where the visuals are characterised by their colour saturation and fast movement. Taking the idea of ‘from scratch’, the audience can see how the performative experience is built from a blank page. For this performance, two live coding languages are used: Strudel for the audio and Hydra for the visuals.

Join us for Dispatch vol.3 at pixelforest() Berlin & YouTube livestream on our special All-ladies edition!

Presenting Martina Chilardi

Martina Chilardi is an Italian artist and designer from Siracusa, working at the intersection of visual storytelling, new media, and interactive art. With roots in comics, her practice explores how technology can translate emotion into immersive visual experiences. She creates works that navigate the space between memory, perception, and digital presence, turning intangible feelings into something visible and shared. Her recent installations include Displaced Memories, presented in Berlin, and Like Tears in the Rain, showcased during Warsaw Museum Night—both reflecting her ongoing research into the poetic potential of real-time visuals and generative systems.

Martina presents Literary revolutionary: the application of typography in new medias

This short talk presents a 2025 thesis research on the role of typography in new media art and interactive systems. With a background in graphic design, the author began exploring tools such as p5.js and TouchDesigner to rethink typography beyond its traditional function as a carrier of language. Inspired by the idea that “the medium is the message,” her work approaches type as a dynamic visual element—capable of movement, interaction, and generative behavior. Through selected projects and audience feedback from MANIFEST:IO Berlin, the talk reflects on how interactive typography can reshape perception and expand contemporary visual communication

Remember when we said we’re cooking on something? Well - the pot is boiling, and we need to move fast.

pixel.forest() probably found a new space in Berlin. 200m² of creative infrastructure for artists working at the intersection of code, sound, light, and everything in between. Fixed co-working desks in a proper community space, built by and for people who make things that don’t fit into normal categories. 380€/month per desk with 24/7 access.

You’ll work alongside:
- TouchDesigner + vvvv practitioners
- Audiovisual artists
- Creative coders
- Experimental media artists

Access to:
→ Meeting room with projection setup
→ Tech lab + workbench
→ Fast Wi-Fi + printer
→ Kitchen
→ Event hosting discounts

Here’s where we need your help: we have to confirm the space by May 15th, and we need 15 people on board to make it real. So if this speaks to you, please reach out by April 28th. The sooner we know, the sooner we can start building this together.

Berlin is full of incredible artists working alone in their apartments on things nobody has seen yet. We want to put them in the same room. Not just to share desks, but to share ideas, host things together, and build the kind of creative community that actually means something.

If that’s you, or someone you know - we’d love to hear from you. DM us or write to birds@pixel-forest.com for pictures, details, and to lock in your spot. 💚🌱
