Love seeing stuff like this! I’ve never met @iamcalebholt but he’s been tapped in with The PJF App since 6th grade šŸ”„. He’s one of the top prospects in the world about to do big things at Arizona.

How well can you control your shin drop? Can you gradually slow it down, or does your shin just slam forward the moment your foot hits the ground?

From an ACL standpoint, we want to be able to control rapid forward translation of the shin relative to the thigh.

From a basketball standpoint, controlling that shin drop allows us to manipulate ground contact times. Sometimes we want quick/reactive steps. Other times we want heavy/slow steps that allow us to extend ground contact and play with more patience.

This even connects back to basketball IQ. If I can’t slow down a ground contact when needed, I have less time to process what’s happening on the court. Slow the contact, buy yourself time to make reads and play with more control.

Another question… does your shin drop feel SMOOTH throughout the entire range? Or are there certain points where you hit a roadblock?

When you lack the strength, mobility, or motor control to smoothly progress through that range, your body has to find another solution. Sometimes that means excessive knee valgus or other compensatory strategies.

This requires a VERY strong soleus, adequate ankle mobility, and a high level of motor control.

That’s a huge part of what separates athletes who just move fast from athletes who actually know how to play with pace. by @pjfperformance

Comment ā€œfree trialā€ to get access to all these programs!

The rumors are true… I’m coming out of retirement to do Vert Code 2.0 with you guys. But I don’t want ANY agents or GM’s contacting me about 10 day contracts after I finish. Please respect my privacy.

Send this video to an athlete who’s always dealing with knee pain!

Your patellar tendons love frequent loading.

Knee extension machines work great but most people don’t always have access to them (especially not well designed machines).

Using your PJF Extended Length Band can be clutch as an alternative.

Go build. by @pjfperformance

The two biggest issues with Vert Code 1.0 were adherence and lack of personalization.

So those are the two areas I relentlessly pursued improving with Vert Code 2.0.

ADHERENCE: The best program in the world doesn’t work if you don’t actually do it.

With the Farren app, we built features that are designed to help you actually SHOW UP. Follow your workouts in real time with no distractions, log your sessions, build workout streaks and get follow ups when you start falling off.

The Farren app makes it WAY easier to stay consistent.

PERSONALIZATION: A lot of people bought Vert Code 1.0 and quit the second they realized they didn’t have all the equipment they needed.

On one hand, this drives me crazy…

Why are you letting what you CANNOT do interfere with what you CAN do?!?

But that’s human psychology. I can’t change it.
So we changed the program.

Now you tell us what equipment you have access to and we customize your training around it.

Your injury history, time constraints, goals, equipment… All of it is factored into how we personalize your Vert Code 2.0 training.

Let’s get BOUNCY, fast, agile and strong.

No one hates long periods of sitting more than your patellar tendons! My hoopers and jumpers know this…

Grab your PJF Extended Length Band, loop it around the seat, pull it as tight as needed with your hands.

Start with a warmup set (1 set of 45 seconds at around 60% of your max intensity). Then do 3-4 sets of 10-15 seconds ramping up towards 90% intensity (near maximal overcoming isometric).

Your tendons will appreciate that little loading session. You don’t always need a weightroom. Small movement snacks throughout the day for the win. by @pjfperformance
