Today’s event is beyond heartbreaking.

This especially hits home, as this is the elementary school next to our home. I pass. It daily on my way to work. Our next door neighbors kids attend this school: they are “safe,” albeit the life altering experience they witnessed, and all the kids in our sweet neighborhood.

Our community is broken.

Meet “Adolph” this is a turtle I gifted my dad when I was 8 years old. We’ve had her for 52 years. When we got her, we didn’t know how to identify a turtles gender, so “she”has a male name. About 10 years ago, we finallly determined he’s a she, so we now call her by Adolphina. She walks fast, when she gets to roam free on grass or around the house. She LOVES to eat worms, strawberries, cantalope. Now a days, it is illegal to bring these type of turtles into the US. Waaaay back then, not so much. Thankful to have this cutie in my life for 6 decades and going strong. #turtle #boxturtle #52 by @pjfritchman

My favorites were
♨️The Arches of Utah with Little Rock on the bottom of the pool to massage my 🦶feet + a waterfall

♨️The Dead Sea, which highest ingredient is 🧂sodium, and I could float effortlessly

💦50 degree cold plunge. INVIGERATING!! ☃️

In 2018, Namaspa led its first international yoga retreat in Guatemala. In January 2027, we’re returning to the magic of Lake Atitlán, Guatemala for an all-inclusive week of yoga, adventure, connection, and plenty of space to simply be.

From our home base at beautiful Casa Valdres, we’ll practice daily yoga, swim and paddleboard in Lake Atitlán, explore local villages, hike, zip line, experience a cacao ceremony, visit a women’s weaving co-op, connect with the local Mayan community, and more. Your retreat also includes all meals, local and airport transportation, a massage, and six nights surrounded by lush gardens, volcano views, and the lake.

Our hosts, Stewart and PJ Fritchman, bring years of travel and hospitality experience along with a deep love for Lake Atitlán and relationships throughout the region, offering us an intimate way to experience Guatemala’s landscapes, culture, communities, and hidden treasures.

The itinerary will be full, but not rushed. We’re intentionally leaving room to breathe, float, wander, laugh, nap, connect, and experience the unplanned magic that happens when a group gathers in a place like this.

SPAAAAAHHHHHH DAY
This place is uhmazing! Over the span of 3 short hours we took in all the things to help ease the aches, release the tension, reset the nervous system and feel the exhaustion slip away!!

Steam room
Ice Room
Hot tub
Clay Oven
Clay soak
Massages
Lounging rooms

Anytime in Vegas, I’ll take a turn into this sketch neighborhood over “the strip” any day!!

This rhubard plant is a true gift! She has produced 4 huge harvests this summer: starting the end of June through this week, I’ve made 4️⃣ BIG batches of rhubard jam. Today’s final summer batch, I added fresh picked apples from trees in a local orchard for Rhubard-Apple Jam. 🍏

This is what I love about Oregon summers. ☀️Recalling memories of fruit stands along the road sides supporting local farmers. 👨‍🌾

👒Now, I’m no gardener, and why I’m so thankful 🙏for this plant 🌱thriving, is because it was a gift.

When I first moved into my home 24 years ago, my neighbor was out in her yard gardening always. She was in her 80’s at the time. She would try to educate me about local plants and trees. Every year, she’d give me a handful of rhubard stalks from her plant. When she passed about 4 years ago, her son asked if I wanted her rhubard plant.

❤️I was honored!! ‼️🙌👏YES! Please.

I replanted it in a spot: I thought, would be right: lots of direct sunlight. Just like Shirley had her plant. Thing is, I didn’t have a regular watering system in that area, and although this plant had a strong spirit, it was slowly dying. :(

After a couple of years of this, finally!! I dug it up, replanted it, and NOW she is Thriving. I call her “Thriving Shirley”. May her sweetness continue to grow, thrive and give us rhubard to enjoy throughout the months ahead.
