Today marks 21 years of sobriety for me. As I look back, I am overwhelmingly grateful for all of the things that sobriety has given me. A beautiful wife, 3 gorgeous children and a career doing something that I absolutely love. None of this would be even remotely possible without sobriety.

21 years ago, I was 25 years old and in really bad shape. Somehow, I was able to ask for help. That moment changed everything for me. I post this not to brag, but to let others know that it can be done, even at a young age. If you are struggling with alcohol or are a part of the sober crew, leave a message below. There is an amazing and supportive community that can help you get the most out of life. A buzz around Bolingbrook, site of LIV Chicago. Personally, I never watched a single shot of LIV Golf and I feel like that was a W for me. I guess it was fun, but nobody cared about those golf tournaments. Did you know…. with the $6 billion they spent, they could have bought a cowboy hat for every dog in america. That includes delivery and a professional fitting. If we had to do it again, what would you rather see… LIV Golf?? or cowboy hats on ALL the doggos?? To me, good golf course photography is all about details. It’s much more than just pointing and shooting. With this particular shot from @heritagebluffspublicgolfclub I found an open window that I liked when the lighting wasn’t ideal. I returned later to find it showing off. I scampered around the adjacent fairway to get the window just right. I had to consider both portrait and landscape orientations. I worked with several different lenses and angles to make sure the pin was framed nicely and even had to wait a bit for the light to catch the flag just right. Finally, I ran backwards to improve my foreground and hide the cart path before the moment passed. Finally, I had what I was looking for and pressed the shutter. In post, I cleaned up some annoying leaves and a particularly large divot. My personal guide when editing photographs is that less is usually more and if something isn’t adding to the visual, it’s probably taking away from it. Then I posted it to Instagram to share with everyone. I hope you enjoy the view as much as I enjoyed the process of capturing it. taken in Heritage Bluffs Golf Club by @pjkoenig

Whole lotta Wayzata. I chose the audio because the phrase “Kid in A Candy Store” completely encapsulates my feelings about golf course photography.
