Missing my brother. I’ve been feeling weepy since my big brother Michael passed away last Wednesday. When we spoke at Christmas,I got the chance to say how much I loved him, and how much he meant to me, and we talked about meeting for lunch. He also told my husband and girls that he loved them too, and vice-versa . Michael was always my partner in chores like dishes, he made me laugh, took me to movies, we would go to Woolworth’s and buy tricks, like squirt rings, or nickels that had a secret hole in it to squirt people too, magic cards, hand buzzers, he would play all his albums for me… I think I was the only 8 year old who knew all the words to Jimi Hendrix songs. Even though there was an 11 year age gap, we were a team. First my brother, then my best friend, now he is my guardian angel. I will hold him in my heart until we meet again. by @pkactisdale

Goodbye 2023…this year I realized if I wanted to move on and heal from something, I needed to embrace my struggles and failures, just as I embrace my happiness and successes. They are uniquely mine, and until I embrace them, and acknowledge, and deal with them, they aren’t going anywhere. I can’t hide or ignore them. So that was a huge lightbulb moment for ‘ 23. I also realized that as vessels planted here to help each other, if I am empty, weak and broken with cracks, who can I help..I need to be whole and full in order to give of myself. It’s ok to take care of me too. It’s not selfish. I matter too. by @pkactisdale

Honestly, I didn’t know how to let anyone know what has been going on for the past few months. I realized on vacation when it was nearly impossible to walk on sand or in water, and kept dropping glasses, and couldn’t hold a cup, that I couldn’t put my surgery off. I did get at LEAST THE NO KINGS MARCH IN.. cane and all. But less than a month ago I had no choice but to schedule the Posterior Cervical Laminectomy with fusion of C3 to T2. Plus the weighted surgical traction halo 80 lbs screwed in to scalp, which bled like the dickens… Last year I had anterior fusion of C-3-c-7 ACDF but that fusion still didn’t help…. My spine was being crushed by the back bones..very severe stenosis. (Again thanks to my cancer treatments.. red devil/cytoxin and some other treats given so long and I started 24 years ago…bones have taken a hit particularly spinal. ) Still not much use if right hand and arm... I had no use before, I just thought it was from shoulder damage in feb, in vt.. Positive - I have a nifty green walker…. AND a GRANDPA JOE’S bed in the living room just like Willy wonka.. . I still can’t lift above 5 lbs, although other web sites say 10.. my dr is being a putz..concerned because they cut the traoazoid, deltoid in half, and used cadaver pieces to screw the fusion to. I can’t look down, or bend down, I can’t look up .. have to move head side to side… yes… nuts, I have no idea where the voices are from … AND I HAVE NO BACK BONE… oh jokes I can make.. 🥰🤔😂. I wear the hard collar 24/7 6 weeks. I’m better at walking, except Pain is an 8. They say 6 weeks bad, 3 months moderate pain and 6 months mild.. a year I should be ok.. just very very strange to touch back and not feel your “dinosaur bumps, those “Toblerone” candy triangles.. they don’t appear till Thoracic part of back.. freaky.. OH AND DR DID A BACK CUT OF HAIR, for cut in skull… I would be the idle of every 13 yo boy..THIS a lot to read, so you don’t have to at once… think of it as a novella, it was a lot that happened. I’ll miss Christmas so much. No pixie village, no anything. Peter went back right after thanks giving. So me and the pups❤️Love them by @pkactisdale
