Earlier this year we contract grew 100 - 5g Salvia spathacea for a school project that recently got postponed. :( We had to take them in, but are limited on space. So we’re offering these 5g at 30% OFF now through SUNDAY! Help us dig out of this little ditch we got into. If you’ve been dreaming of a sticky icky sweet and shady swath of hummingbird sage, now’s as good a time as any to start making that reality. by @plant_material

Whew — that’s a wrap! Thank you to everyone who showed up for our 3rd Annual Plant Material Winter Market!!

It truly warmed our hearts to see Altadena come together again. It’s been a hell of a year since the last one, but somehow we pulled it off once more.

We loved seeing our community picking up trees from @plant_material and ornaments from @ornamentsforaltadena.
It was especially sweet to give ornaments directly to friends and neighbors who lost my pieces in the fire, and to share rainbows and CA quails with others in our community. ❤️

A huge thank-you to @remainders_creative_reuse for providing supplies for our crafting area!

And thank you to all of the magical vendors who showed up and made this event so special.
❤️ Altadena Forever ❤️

Xoxo

I miss the trees. I miss the owls and their nuanced nocturnal dialog. I miss the hawks returning to their apex nest. I miss the branch that held the web swing I hung years ago. I miss the kids taking flight. I miss picnics in the cool patch of grass that would only grow in the shade of the tree. I miss the daydreams, getting lost in the canopy. I miss the trees.

I want to personally thank James, Rich, Saul, Flora, Gregg, Patrick, Jose, Nick, Karen, Laura, Jenn, Michael, Dusty and anyone else we may have left out who had a hand in so generously donating a little bit of hope to the Altadena community.

Out of the kindness of their hearts, they’ve donated hundreds of trees for us to distribute. This post was supposed to be about…letting people know about…the trees we’ve collected to share with those in the Altadena/Pasadena community. Those who were directly affected by the Eaton Fire and want to plant a tree right now, or keep a tree safe for a while until they can. There is a link in our bio on how to sign up and what the next steps are if you are indeed interested. I know it’s not going to bring back what was lost. One day at a time. by @plant_material

This is Heather and Matt and fam of @plant_material 🌱I remember this location opened really close to my first home in Altadena on Lincoln Ave. and I was so happy to see such a cool spot, I believe it was an old service station, turned into a native plant nursery complete with Silkie chickens running around.. They also lost their home in the fire, and are still operating their other 2 Plant Material locations in LA and are planning a holiday market to bring back some love and memories to the Altadena location. (Stay tuned for details on that) Please shop local small business as much as you can not just during the holidays, and support artists of Altadena as we could really use the extra love this year. taken in Altadena by @plant_material
