I don’t like fall, but Longwood Gardens is still a beautiful place to visit during the fall. Even on a rainy evening, it still feels otherworldly. by @plantedinthespirit

From coast to coast, we are all one American family. by @plantedinthespirit

Hollyhock House in L.A. was designed for oil heiress Aline Barnsdall by Frank Lloyd Wright. The strong-willed single mother repeatedly butted heads with the famous architect and eventually brought in another architect to finish the project. Construction began in 1919. Hollyhocks were Ms. Barnsdall’s favorite flowers, so Wright incorporated linear shapes inspired by these tall flowering stalks into his designs. The dining room furniture is original and was designed by Wright to foster conversation (he thought that it was not possible to have a good dinner conversation with more than 6 people, so he made the table hexagonal.) Unfortunately, much of the original furniture was lost or stolen during the time when the house sat abandoned. A local arts council moved to preserve the house in the 1940s, and it is now surrounded by a peaceful park and an art gallery. by @plantedinthespirit

We could not go to LA without a trip to the Griffith Observatory. You may recognize it from such films as “Rebel Without a Cause” and “La La Land.” As someone with a passion for backyard astronomy, this place is an essential stop. We went while Seth’s cousin Victor was working there as a guide and got some insider background on the exhibits. I also got to hold an 8 lb meteorite! I especially enjoyed a visit to the Oschin Planetarium (a scale model of this planetarium was used to film my favorite scene in my favorite movie.) by @plantedinthespirit

One week ago, we began our 40th birthday adventure in Los Angeles. We did a fantastic city tour and enjoyed dinner at Crossroads Kitchen. It was absolutely phenomenal. We caught a live jazz band at Bar Flores and listened until the jet lag caught up with us. by @plantedinthespirit

Thanks for your kind wishes! I celebrated my birthday with a walk through magical rhododendrons and azaleas at Jenkins Arboretum. 🌸 by @plantedinthespirit

Happy International Tea Day! by @plantedinthespirit

This is exactly what I talked about in my Good Friday sermon, “Father Forgive.” These are the ruins of Coventry Cathedral. After the German Luftwaffe destroyed the cathedral on 14 November, 1940, the residents of Coventry chose reconciliation over retribution. The new cathedral stands next to the old ruins as a symbol of resurrection. by @plantedinthespirit

Happy Eastertide! This is my favorite time of the year. And yes, dogs belong in family photos! 💐🌷🪻✝️ by @plantedinthespirit

Happy Palm Sunday! This beautiful painting by Paige Payne helps me visualize myself on the road as we journey into Holy Week. by @plantedinthespirit

Last night, an almost imperceptibly thin crescent moon was spotted, marking the official end of Ramadan. Eid blessings to all who are celebrating today. by @plantedinthespirit

These are not just numbers. These are people‘s family members, friends, and neighbors. This is a war that nobody is going to win, and we must hold our leaders accountable for this death and destruction. Operation Epstein Fury is Operation Iraqi Freedom 2.0. It will fail to produce a functioning democracy in Iran. The IGRC will probably run the show for the foreseeable future. More lives will be lost. Defense companies and their shareholders will be rewarded, and more caskets draped with American flags will be sent home. We’ve learned nothing in the past quarter of a century. by @plantedinthespirit
