I'm finally making some progress on a working variable pitch system using the stock VR motor. It's not foolproof, and very dynamic 45s may be beyond its capabilities, but it's looking like I'll have to do less knob twiddling on a few projects at least, results will be 100% repeatable, plus I get to keep my beloved manual controls. About time, frankly...

So... after two days of stylus breakages, and having no original type left as a result, I finally got around to re-EQing my cutterhead to work with some shorter ones I got from my friends at Spinner Town. It took hours to get it to my satisfaction, but initial impressions are super smart, and I'm back on the air. Thank [insert deity here]. Currently doing some ace 10s for @phutureshockmusik.bristol to celebrate.

Life goals: Cutting a transparent red disc on a 100% manually operated machine, getting two different length sides to line up exactly... and then doing it another 12 times. It's the little things that make it all worthwhile... (apparently?!)

Maintenance time. Again. Another new thrust bearing cap for my trusty SP10. The poor thing probably thought it was going to have an easy life when it was retired from a BBC radio station in the 1990s. It couldn't have been more wrong. There are 112 10" 'dubplates' to be getting on with, next. Chop chop, eh? by @plastidisc

I finally managed a week or so away from the machine and the Internet, and had a lovely time with lovely people. I believe it's called a holiday. We won a pub quiz and my exposure to records was limited to buying a few. However I'm now back home, and it's business as usual. Again. I'm still booked up solid for the next month or so, but October projects are opening up. by @plastidisc
