Today! Opening of the first Artist Run Fair organized by @williewilliestudio

Platform Archipel participates with the presentation of three artists: @winnieclaessens @elenbraga__ and @joost.pauwaert with

'Form Follows Play'

'Playgrounds are never neutral. They shape bodies, guide behavior, and determine how a person moves, climbs, falls, and gets back up. Through specific design choices, we subtly—often imperceptibly—steer the imagination in particular directions. What can be climbed? What invites interaction? What excludes?

A playground is not only a space of freedom but also one of formation and control. It reflects the ideologies of its time: ideas about safety, the body, space, and who is allowed to be where. In this way, the playground becomes a miniature architectural manifesto—a model of how a society organizes itself, sets boundaries, and defines freedoms.

By approaching the playground as both a sculptural and architectural entity, we gain insight into how a culture relates to play, risk, and autonomy. It reveals not only what we permit children, but also how we, as a society, think about space, the future, and the shaping of possibility.'

@platform_archipel is a collaborative project by Barbé (Ghent), FRED&FERRY (Antwerp), and Wouters (Brussels), created to offer artists an expanded platform beyond the walls of the traditional gallery. By joining forces, the three spaces support artistic practices through curated exhibitions in unique, off-site locations.

Open today 2-6pm: ARCHIPEL I INVERNO

Platform 6a in Otegem was in the post war period a carpet manufacturing firm and became later the renowned Deweer Gallery. Today the former factory houses 1200m2 warehouse space dedicated to contemporary art exhibition and art storage for museums and private collectors.

The Deweer gallery produced tapestries with numerous international artists. From their collection Platform Archipel has selected tapestries by Ilya & Emilia Kabakov, Stefaan Dheedene, Tony Cragg, and Günter Förg to exhibit in dialogue with leading contemporary artists rethinking textile as a medium, represented by Barbé, Fred&Ferry and Wouters Gallery.
