Since June 2026, the British Army has been sending welcome packs to every new recruit ahead of Phase One training. Inside: a notebook, a pen — and a Casio F-91W, officially approved by the Ministry of Defence.

No smartwatch. No GPS. No subscription. Just the watch that has quietly proven itself in classrooms, training grounds and conflict zones for decades.

Sometimes the most reliable tool is the simplest one. The British Army seems to agree.

This is probably the best G-Shock you can get for a very reasonable price: a steel case, MB6, and solar power. Plus, I personally love its understated color scheme.
