me perdí en el bierzo y acá me quedo feliz ❤️‍🩹

Ya pasaron unas semanas desde que me desplacé al sur para @balutia_cc, un desafío exigente de ultraciclismo de modo aventura y autosuficiencia.

Mis objetivos eran claros - disfrutar de los paisajes y la dureza de la prueba, desafiarse a sí mismo con días fuertes sobre la bici sin prisa, sin patrocinados, sin competición. Pero también anduve con la promesa y expectativa de terminar entre el límite de tiempo y con eso terminar mi primer desafío de larga distancia y varios días.

Paré bastante para tirar fotos y hacer maquetas para qué pudiera dibujar mis recuerdos cuando había regresado a la casa y a mi escritorio de cartón.

Aparte de esos dibujos lo que más llevo de esta experiencia es la alegría de pedalear y la sensación pura de volar por territorios expansivos llenos de historia bajo un cielo que parece blanqueado y secado por miles de años de sol y viento.

Todo el resto es solo una distracción.

Me puse muy feliz de completar mi primera serie Super Randonneur este temporada. Lindas rutas y sensaciones en cada una, que fortuna es conocer mas el precioso norte de España.

Con todo el agradecimiento a @astorga_randonneurs por su organización y apoyo al ciclismo de ultradistancia y todo les compadres de las rutas pero especialmente @bierzogravel

Unas vibras sacadas de mi odisea en @lamiradacircular 6C - Seis Caminos.

Me dejó asombrada.

26 horas y 31 minutos y me pasó todo - alegría, desolación, hambre, sed, tormentas eléctricas, muchos donuts, dos amaneceres, un atardecer, partes del Bierzo conocidos y desconocidos, ranas y sapos, culebras, erizos, venedos, jabalí, pájaros de todos tipos, las tres climas distintas del Bierzo, todo.

Bebí el agua de vida que fluye de las fuentes incontables, aproveché de las cerezas al punto, los vecinos cariñosos me cuidaron, y en cada paso la ruta y la tierra me desafiaban.

It left me amazed.

26 hours and 31 minutes and I felt every minute - joy, desolation, hunger, thirst, thunderstorms, lots of donuts, two sunrises, a sunset, familiar and unfamiliar parts of El Bierzo, frogs and toads, snakes, hedgehogs, deer, wild boar, birds of all kinds, the three distinct climates of El Bierzo, everything.

I drank the life-giving water that flows from countless springs and fountains, enjoyed perfectly ripe cherries, my kind neighbors looked after me, and at every step the route and the terrain challenged me. taken in Ponferrada-El Bierzo by @playitfaster

EN: I love the spirit and intention that a solo unsupported Fastest Known Time attempt requires. These routes transcend cycling, both through their geographic and cultural significance and through the singular efforts and focus they require.

For me, it is a way to highlight the place I live - El Bierzo - a region of Spain that has captured my heart and imagination, and which more cyclists should know! Crossed by ancient Roman roads, Camino de Santiago pilgrimage routes, with endemic agriculture and viticulture, high mountains, river valleys, this ancient region has 4 hors categorie climbs of over 1200m elevation gain and (literally) countless 1 and 2 category climbs, and that is speaking only of asphalt.

@lamiradacircular route of the 6 caminos connects sections of 6 of these ancient and culturally significant routes along with plenty of steep climbs, single and double track, and agricultural roads to create a stunningly beautiful and brutally difficult route.

I surely am the only person dumb or crazy enough to try riding this 225+ km route all at once (so far!) but I hope that setting this fkt will inspire someone else to discover what a cycling paradise El Bierzo is. I also hope that FKTs will become more popular in Spain, which has an enormous amount of ideal fixed routes perfect for them.

For me, the bike is a tool of self expression and I know of no better way to value the work that @lamiradacircular has done in promoting cycling as a restorative and regenerative force in rural communities. This is a movement throughout Spain and one I am glad to see taking place!

ES: Me encanta el espíritu y la determinación que requiere un intento de FKT sola y autosuficiente. Estas rutas trascienden el ciclismo, tanto por su significado geográfico y cultural como por el esfuerzo físico y mental que exigen.
