🚨 Don’t throw out your popped pool float! ♻️👀

It could become your next favourite bag instead 🙌💚

Pop them into our pool float recycling bins or post to us, we’re ready to rescue your punctured inflatables from landfill ✨

Before donating your pool float, please make sure your float is:
🧼 Clean
✨ Mould-free
🌈 Bright and in as-new condition (not faded or discoloured)
🚫 No large paddling pools or above-ground PVC pools
🚫 No air mattresses or tents please (we already have plenty)

Because every PLOYS bag is handmade by cutting floats into PVC patterns and sewing them into one-of-a-kind bags, the material needs to still look fresh and have plenty of life left 💚

Our best tip? Send it our way as soon as it pops 💨
If the float is less than 1 yr old, it’s usually perfect for upcycling and staying in the circular loop 🔂 instead of ending up in landfill 🗑️

Meet Carin the driving force behind PLOYS. She has a passion of reducing plastic waste by upcycling broken pool inflatables into one-of-a-kind bags, purses and home accessories. Her business statement is from float to fashion!

In her day to day life Carin works as an Occupational Therapist in Mental Health by enabling the person to create a positive future for themselves.

Creating a better future is also her passion through PLOYS, with a mission of designing and creating functional accessories from PVC waste.

PLOYS is supported by her husband Gerhard and like minded people who assist with managing the punctured pool toy collection points and two wonderful women who help with sewing during the busy season. Carin is also active in her community with organising beach clean up events!

Float to Fashion just got a whole new meaning! 🪂

This paraglider was donated to PLOYS way back in November last year… and after patiently waiting its turn, I’ve finally transformed it into something new!

Bright, lightweight, colourful, perfect for PLOYS Bumbags — each one carrying a little bit of its flying history. 🌈

Upcycling a paraglider wing is extra special to me. I used to paraglide! My first flight was a tandem flight in France, which got me hooked and was followed by several solo flying adventures in New Zealand. It’s been years since I last flew, so giving this wing a new life feels pretty magical.

The adventure continues… just in a different direction. 💚🪂♻️

Watch this space — our shop will soon be filling up with these colourful one-of-a-kind bumbags!

I had to share the magic, fantasy world and mysterious vibe of the @theowlerycafe with its Harry Potter theme decor (and excellent coffee!).

Must declare though that I’m not a fan of JK Rowling with her transphobic views of gender identity!🤯

Did you know we used to have a pool float recycle bin at Walkabout Creek at the Enogerra dam. It’s always been a special place to go for a walk and explore nature.

Now we have our North pool float collection point at @recycling_hills_district recycling group

New Cross Body Bags in gorgeous soft velvety colours ❤️🖤🤎💚💙

This is just about the last of the coloured ex-camping air mattresses used to make this batch of bags.

I absolutely love this velvety material and the style of bag as it fits my wallet, phone, sunnies and two mini purses of bits and pieces (see last image). I mix and match my bags to suit my outfit and wear the strap quite short so it’s within easy reach when I need something.

A bag needs to be just right: convenient to store your everyday stuff, it needs to be strong, weatherproof, sustainable and should look unique and pretty 🤩 (I personally don’t want a bag that everyone else has!)
