Today peace prevailed 🙏🏽🕊️-for now- and pray it continues on the path of justice and restoration. It might be late for all the innocent lives lost but never too late to stand for humanity. The actions, the prayers, the protests worked. Let’s this moment to awaken our souls and recommit to build a new world order that never gets too this point of such atrocities and apathy to human suffering. by @plumadesamy

#NuevaYol… mi poema inspirado en la canción de #BadBunny de #DTMF y en diálogo con la gran poesía boricua respondiendo al reto de @cooplibripr: Dia #1.

Este #video reel es un resumen de lo que viví este verano en #NuevaYork para el 50 aniversario de #Toñitas del #CaribbeanSocialClub en #Brooklyn organizado por @giocarbonell, a quien Benito honra en su disco, una gran ícono y embajadora de nuestra cultura en la diaspora.

**Nuevayol**
Con el sueño, preñáos de pasteles y lágrimas del monte
Nos fuimos en Guagua Aérea
De la isla del Encanto a los rascacielos
Un verano a Nuevayol
Cuando me falta el calor de la islita me voy pa’ Toñitas,
Me refugio en la embajada borincana con asopao y Medalla
En verano, mi gente hacen de las calles vaporosas, playas de pueblo
Que bailan al sonido de los dóminos y al ritmo de la salsa que retumba a tó volumen por las ventanas
Cuando me enamoro, escribo versos como Julia de Burgos.
Cuando quiero playa, me baño como niño en las olas que estallan por los “fire hydrants”,
Cuando da bajón de Piñones, se escapan para las orillas de Orchard Beach y sus rincones
Pantallas gigantes doradas de una prima anuncian el orgullo de tu familia, uñas rojo pasión el de una mujer en el exilio, sortijas grandes coronas para manos que han trabajado por los suyos y los nuestros
Cuando extraño mi terruño, nuestro llanto baña los pies de la Libertad frizada en Estatua
La nostalgia se evapora en un sublime canto que susurra: me fui pero algún día volveré
Hasta que llega un verano en Nuevayol
Cuando se derrama en río de algarabí
que busca al Mar Caribe en un caliente suspiro
para reencontrarse y bailar bajo un mismo sol

“How long do I have to stay quiet, in order to not offend you?” -writer @mariapadilla____ writes in #poem “Silence” on the anthology “The #Latinx #Poetry Project” in @alegriamagazine by @alegriapublishing published by @davifalegria.

#TheLatinxPoetryProject is a soul-shaking little book of great resonance that stirs the complexity of being #Latino/a/e in this country. Through poignant poems, these #poets unearth themes of ancestral pain and trauma, lack of representation in media, the inhumane impact of immigration broken policies and, most notably, a refreshing array of #female Latina voices problematizing patraiarchy and machismo and redefining womanhood and Latinidad— what it means to be a #woman beyond the confines of social norms, the eyes of men and the cultural expectations and religious traditions imposed into women.

This book reminds us of the sublime beauty and stark complexity of the diversity of the #Latino, #Latina or #Latinx experiences— that one poem alone, one writer, one idea can’t ever summarize the millenary, expansive and evolving nature of Latinidad. We can’t be reduced by a sentence not even a word -hence why our name keeps evolving into #Latinx, #Latine and the more that will continue to emerge, be written by our people.

There is pain, melancholy, but also #love to the project of family, migration and the self transcending the past. There is also righteous anger and sense of fiery justice and resiliency of people that despite their circumstances, challenges and depths of oppression are rising above from the ground, from the crop fields, from imposed womanhood and motherhood, from restaurant kitchens, borders, school and colleges and rewriting what it means to be #Latinx or #woman in this country —or anywhere.

There is a sense of omnipresence, of a mystical and indestructible energy that makes us #Latinx that defies borders, survive laws, transcends circumstances, and evolve lands and times. by @plumadesamy

What you might hear if you stay silent for a moment?

The modern world is deafening. Every moment, we’re flooded with noise—news, music, complaints, videos, social media, TV—leaving little space for stillness. Yet in that stillness lies the voice of your soul, of God, of the Universe, waiting to guide you.

This week, I invite you to embrace silence. Spend a few minutes—or even hours—without distraction. Don’t plan, analyze, or force clarity. Simply be. Let neutrality hold you, and notice what arises. You may begin to hear your inner voice.

Be mindful: two voices will speak. The ego, often loud and negative, feeds on fear and doubt. Gently acknowledge it, saying, “I hear you, but you are not me.” Then, ask your soul: What do you want me to know?

The answer may not come immediately, but it will. The Universe is always speaking to us, always guiding. In the quiet, you’ll begin to recognize its music, a melody meant only for you. Listen deeply, and let it reveal the path your soul is here to walk. by @plumadesamy

Do you feel anger, rage or sadness? It’s all valid. The first stage of #grief we can experience many feelings. Let them, and see an awakened wisdom through your body that you can (trans)mute into action, #art, #love and solidarity.

These verses are part of #SacredRage —a #poem, #prayer-manifesto I wrote for my #CuirDoRican #book that while releases on Monday 11/11 I wanted to share here in advancebut given these times. Sharing here a piece of my #poem #CuirDoRican —part of my upcoming #book CuirDoRican: Between #Queer and #Latine. These are my favorite lines:

“Invaded into an #American,
but with second-class “ciudadanía”
without land or voting rights,
but my body can’t be colonized.
I’m unconquerrable like the walls of #ElMorro;
Loud and persistent like el #gallo y el #coquí”
