We are absolutely blown away!

In just 24 hours, kind-hearted people across the motu came together to raise over $142,000 so that parents can keep receiving vital mental health support from Plunket when they need it most.

To everyone who donated, thank you. Every gift was generously matched dollar for dollar by the Wright Family Foundation, which means your kindness went twice as far. And because of you, Plunket’s free online mental health service will continue for another year.

But what does that really mean?

It means more parents like Ali’sha and Kelsi, whose stories we’ve shared with you this past week, will get the help they need in their hardest days and find their way back to confidence and joy with their babies.

From everyone here at Plunket, thank you again for caring so deeply about whānau during Plunket’s first ever Giving Day.

P.S: Matching may be over, but we still have a little way to go to hit our goal. All donations are welcome 💜 by @plunketnz

Our first ever Giving Day is still going, so far an amazing $77,844.41 has been raised! Today is an amazing opportunity to fund a specific way that we're right there for whānau during tougher times.

Hear from practitioner Manea about the difference Plunket's free online mental health service can make for whānau, and how your donation can help keep it going. And with all donations being matched, you’ll have twice the impact 💜 by @plunketnz

Plunket’s Giving Day is LIVE! 💜

For the next 24 hours or until the match funds run out, every donation will be doubled (big thanks to the Wright Family Foundation!). That means your gift can go twice as far for whānau across Aotearoa.

Your matched donation will help keep Plunket’s free online mental health and wellbeing support available for parents who are overwhelmed, anxious or struggling to cope, but may not meet the threshold for specialist public care.

This support helps catch parents before they reach crisis point, with practical tools, safe and knowledgeable kaimahi to talk to, and care that fits around the realities of life with a new baby. Please donate today and double your impact before the match fund runs out. Help us catch more māmā before they fall. by @plunketnz

Tomorrow is Plunket’s Giving Day 💜

By donating, you’ll be keeping our new online mental health service going. Started earlier this year, it has already helped parents like Kelsi.

In the early days with her son, Kelsi didn’t immediately feel the love and joy people often talk about when becoming a mum. Instead, she felt anxious, overwhelmed and unsure how to get through each day. Through Plunket’s support, Kelsi had someone to listen without judgement, help her understand what she was experiencing, and remind her that she wasn’t failing, that she just needed support.

Plunket’s mental health programmes help fill a gap in healthcare for parents who are struggling, but may not meet the threshold for specialist care. They catch whānau before they fall through the cracks.

Your gift during Plunket’s Giving Day tomorrow, October 15, will help keep Plunket’s mental health and wellbeing support available for more parents like Kelsi, before they reach crisis point. And thanks to the Wright Family Foundation matching every donation dollar for dollar for the 24 hours, your gift will have twice the impact.

Watch a little bit of Kelsi’s story today and get ready to donate tomorrow. Help us catch more māmā before they fall. by @plunketnz

Feeling like you belong is good for all of us, including our littlest ones and the people looking after them. Parenting can feel isolating at times, and it’s okay to say so. 💜

Parent groups and playgroups are a way to meet other parents and caregivers near you while tamariki play together. You don't have to sign up in advance, they're mostly free, and they're always fun! You can use the Plunket Near Me tool on our website is an easy way to see what's going on in your area. 🎈

And if you’d like to talk something through, whether it's in the wee hours of the morning, or late at night, PlunketLine is here with free support on 0800 933 922.

Ko au ko koe, ko koe ko au. I am you, and you are me.

Save the date: Plunket’s Giving Day is coming on October 15 💜

Today, we’re sharing a sneak peek of Ali’sha’s story. After a traumatic birth and months of overwhelming anxiety, Ali’sha was referred by her Plunket nurse to Plunket’s new online mental health service. It helped Ali’sha with practical tools, a safe space to talk, and a way to ‘get back to herself’.

Plunket’s mental health programmes are there for parents who are struggling, but may not meet the threshold for stretched public specialist care. They fall into a gap in mental health support.

On Giving Day, every donation will be matched dollar for dollar for 24 hours, helping more parents access this vital, free mental health and wellbeing support before they reach crisis point.

Save the date. This time next week, you can help us catch more māmā before they fall. by @plunketnz

Chickenpox. It appears in almost every household at some point. 😅

For many of us, chickenpox can be managed at home with some extra care, snuggles and support for the itch 💜

If you're ever worried about your tamariki, the nurses at PlunketLine are here with free, 24/7 support on 0800 933 922. by @plunketnz

Meningitis is an infection that can start with flu-like symptoms and quickly become life-threatening. Don’t wait if you suspect your tamariki has meningitis – take them to the doctor immediately. 🚨

Meningococcal B immunisation is part of the National Immunisation Schedule and is given to pēpi at 3 months, 5 months, and 12 months old. All children under 5 years old who have not been fully immunised can catch up for free. This world meningitis day, check your immunisation status, as well as your children's, to ensure the whole whānau is as protected as possible from this serious infection.

You can check your immunisation status with your GP or online: https://my.health.nz/immunisations by @plunketnz
