What does a road trip in an EV look like today? Well, honestly it's pretty boring. Unless you get some place really remote (or in an anti EV state), there are lots of options to charge and range anxiety isn't usually a thing.

This trip took us from home in the MSP South Metro to Barnesville, MN, then to Amery WI, and back home.
9 Hours of drive time. 560+ Miles. About an hour to stop and eat, bathroom, and charge total while on the road.

Total cost of $33 of DC Fast charging in Fergus Falls and Brooklyn Park and approximately $5 of charging at home to get back to full when we got home and before we left. Our old minivan would have been close to $90 at current gas prices. Being able to charge literally anywhere (it's just wires! - Technology Connections) is a game changer.

Our EV is a 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 SE. Great three row SUV with great ability to tow. Highly recommend.

Super proud of Anja today. She did her Boating Operators Safety Class while we were up in Hackensack. She was apprehensive but did great! Thanks to @tenmilelakeassociation for helping set it up. What a great community opportunity. taken in Hackensack, Minnesota by @pmjensen22

Over the river and through the woods...back home we go from Decorah. Due to the weather forecast, we left much earlier this morning. And that was a wise decision. This is the sequence from south to north.

Grateful for a family that buys in and a vehicle that handles this kind of weather.

Fun, snowy and fulfilling weekend in Sioux Falls for the @nikerunning Heartlands Regional NXR races. The snow, the wind and the cold made for a challenge but the @blazeboysxctf boys did fantastic. My favorite part was "pit crewing" with @ryandm27 in the afternoon for the Alumni boys in the community race and @lliammerrell in the Boys Championship race. Watching all of these guy's running careers has been a privilege.

I shared this as a story but figured a post was worth it. Our Honda Odyssey served us so well as a family, stuff, and boat hauler. But we just crossed 175K miles and we've been talking about an EV for a while. The Hyundai Ioniq 9 checks all the boxes and we're very happy to introduce our new Family Hauler. Named R2J4 for obvious reasons.

I've talked about the nostalgia of us Nordic folk and I'd be lying if I said I didn't get choked up taking this last picture of a vehicle that saw our kids grow up and take us on enumerable road trips. We hope it ends up in the hands of someone who needs it because it's a damn road warrior.

Last day of school! This year has been awesome for both girls. Anja rounds out her elementary school experience at William Byrne and she's off to Middle School at Nicollet next year. Lily was a rockstar Kindergartner and it's been awesome to have both girls in the same school at the same time!

Spent most of the day assembling a large volume of furniture today thanks to our #GlobalRecharge Day at IDeaS. Despite a missing chair leg (We got two left legs for one of the chairs) and missing table instructions, it went rather well.
