On Sunday I drove by the last place I ever hugged my Dad.

Five years.

Five years and I still think of things to share with you everyday - I often still do.

I know how you would have LOVED following all of our travels and adventures.

I know exactly how you would have shown up for Sam and me through my divorce last year.

And I know you are proud of us

This one runs counterintuitive to the thinking of most leaders I know.

We want to give to others, we want to give our best, we want to do the most good that we can. All of that begins with what we give ourselves.

Put your oxygen mask on first. Fill your cup to past its brim with what fuels your soul and know - it’s not selfish. Self care is what enables and empowers us to be more selfless. When your cup is running over it’s easy to fill other’s. by @pmonthofer

When I began my leadership journey as MLS chair for the Northern Arizona Association of REALTORS, one of the first things I was told was to check out the Houston Association Of REALTORS website. Flash forward 20 years later, and I am still referencing their website when I am facilitating strategic planning sessions.

My full circle moment of being in the room to contribute to their strategic planning conference did not disappoint.

What a fantastically driven, passionate team of leaders Houston has! Their culture is deep and their knowledge is extensive - and have you checked out their incoming President? @katvgrobinson is brilliant, open minded, inclusive, motivated and motivating. Go ahead and expect a wonderful 2027 - cause that’s what you are gonna get.

Meet Pirate! 🏴‍☠️

Just the sweetest and most gentle giant. He was taken in on Saturday after experiencing cruelty but all he has to give is LOVE. Our visit was his first time out of his kennel since intake and we decided to devote all our time today to him.

After about 5 minutes he was leaning into us. Another ten and he anxiously explored the play area. Twenty minutes in he is licking our faces and coming over regularly for pets and cuddles. Thirty minutes and he is exploring confidently and even relaxed enough to sit down with us for a minute. Forty minutes gave him enough bravery to finally step into the kiddie pool - which he loved.

Sam and I had THE BEST time volunteering and hanging with Molly and Dottie today. They are both cuddlers. Molly loves belly rubs and Dottie loved the pool.

These sisters are available for adoption at @glynncountyanimalservices

Even the doggies in the other kennels had fun barking and wagging tails as they watched us play. So many happy tails set in motion. 🫶🏽 by @pmonthofer

Oh - it’s all happening so fast now! I find myself intentionally savoring all of these delicious little moments in every day routine. They all have expiration dates and some are closer than others.

So for as long as I can, imma savor the hell outta these rides to and from school.

Does that mean we get her a little Starbucks sometimes? Yes.

Does that mean we play THE MOST awful explicit songs that my sweet baby child picks out and knows allllll the words to sing along? Also, yes.

Does it mean when I no longer have to get up before the sun with her, imma miss these days? Ya damn right it does.
