Sin duda, un día angustiante y traumático para nuestra bella #Panamá. Como panameños en el extranjero vivimos la angustia de encontrar y asegurarnos que seres queridos y amistades estuvieran sanas y salvas. Ahora reflexionamos y damos gracias a Dios que, hasta el momento, las pérdidas han sido mayormente materiales. Este día nos recuerda que tan rápido puede cambiar nuestro mundo, que lo más valioso que tenemos son nuestros seres queridos y que la fuerza de un pueblo puede enfrentar cualquier desafío. Desde lejos, les damos nuestro apoyo y cariño; también levantamos nuestras oraciones para que el Señor continúe protegiendo y guiando a nuestra gente. Pensamos en los pueblos y familias más afectadas, muchos quienes esta noche duermen a la intemperie, esperando ayuda ya que lo han perdido todo. ¡Fuerza mi gente! Mañana es un nuevo día y la ayuda llegará. No están solos. Con ustedes en la distancia... 🙏🏽❤️

As this traumatizing & anxious day comes to an end, our hearts are with our people & our homeland. We are grateful to God that, as of right now, the losses are materialistic. We are praying for the communities & families most affected. Many are sleeping under the stars tonight, having lost their homes & having no safe shelter. So about last night... 😁 Is not a party til we show up! 😉 We were honored to perform at a wedding for a beautiful couple in our community. Performing & celebrating with our #Panamanian community, which is small in LA, is always special. Seeing familiar faces, catching up & just having a good time celebrating a milestone moment... unforgettable! Congratulations to Coquese & Luis!! May you have a beautiful & harmonious life together!

#HispanicHeritageMonth brings us the opportunity to share our folklore in so many ways. Today we performed at a local elementary school @state_street_bears which is one of our favorite places to perform at. Seeing eager, happy little faces, enjoying our dances is a feel good kinda moment. We’re sharing our 3 performances starting with Cumbia Veraguense. Dance 2 is our next post! Don't miss it. Enjoy!

A little history, PMPT is the #Panamanian cultural organization that represents the Panamanian community in Southern California within #COFECA. COFECA is also a cultural organization that for more than 43 years has been representing Central America & most recently, the Dominican Republic through cultural events & advocacy. Every year, during Hispanic Heritage Month, COFECA hosts an independence day festival & parade that promotes unity, pride in our collective heritage & encourages future generations to get to know their history. During those annual celebrations, each community represented nominates members of each community who have, through their actions, demonstrated community leadership, dedication and a willingness to improve the lives of others. Without further ado, here are this year's honorees, representing the Panamanian community in Los Angeles and surrounding cities. CONGRATULATIONS TO THEM ALL!!

Surprise Shorty! We debuted a new dance yesterday at @houseofpanama's 2026 Lawn Program!! The PMPT gentlemen have been working on it for months & we anticipated our 1st performance like kids on Christmas morning. It's known as the Dance of the Mirrored Devils, an Afro-Colonial traditional dance. The costumes are breathtaking & the dance itself is all about creative expression. The audience loved it & we loved performing it! Definitely a great addition to our repertoire. What do you think? Also what do you know about this dance & tradition?

¡Sorpresa! ¡Ayer estrenamos un nuevo baile en el Programa de Verano del Museo La Casa de Panamá! Los caballeros de PMPT llevaban meses preparándolo y esperamos nuestra primera presentación como niños la mañana de Navidad. Se conoce como la Danza de los Diablos de Espejos, una danza tradicional Afrocolonial. Los trajes son espectaculares y el baile en sí es pura expresión creativa. ¡Al público le encantó y nosotros disfrutamos muchísimo interpretándolo! Sin duda, una gran incorporación a nuestro repertorio. ¿Qué les parece? Y cuéntennos: ¿qué saben sobre esta danza y esta tradición?

✨ One hundred years cannot be counted simply in candles, it is measured in generations, memories, love, and a legacy that continues to live through an entire family. ✨

What an extraordinary blessing it was to celebrate the 100th birthday of the beautiful Ms. Alma Bonner! 🎂👑

The afternoon was filled with delicious Panamanian food, family, laughter, and the vibrant colors and traditions of Panamá. 🇵🇦

A very special part of the celebration was the beautiful folkloric presentation by Panamá: Mola, Pollera y Tambor (@pmpt_org). Their performance of El Punto, featuring Director Joaquin and Vianeth who made her dancing debut was a beautiful and fitting tribute to Ms. Alma and her Panamanian heritage. 💃🏾🇵🇦✨

And just when we thought the entertainment was over, the cousins took the floor and turned the celebration into their own unforgettable dance show! 😂💃🏾🕺🏾 Watching the younger generation laugh, dance, and celebrate together made the day even more special.

To sit beside a woman who has witnessed an entire century is a moment I will never forget. Ms. Alma’s life is a living legacy and seeing her surrounded by generations of love was truly beautiful.

Happy 100th Birthday, Ms. Alma! May God continue to cover you with His grace and surround you with the love and joy you have inspired for an entire century. 🙏🏾❤️🎉

Our most memorable performances haven't happened on big stages. They have happened in the intimate, familial settings while celebrating special moments. Today we were honored to celebrate & perform for a beautiful Panamanian lady celebrating her 100th birthday! What a privilege for us to honor such a milestone! El Punto (The Point) is certainly a dance made for such a celebration. Performing it are our Director, Joaquin & our newest dancer, making her debut, Vianeth. Happiest of birthdays Mrs. Alma!

Nuestras presentaciones más memorables no han ocurrido en grandes escenarios. Han ocurrido en entornos íntimos y familiares, durante celebraciones de momentos especiales. ¡Hoy tuvimos el honor de celebrar y bailar para una hermosa dama panameña quien festejo su centenario! ¡Que privilegio para nosotros honrar tal hito!
