![🛣️ “The Rest of Your Life” 🛣️
EP by JLJR [ @jameslockhart.jr ]
one of my fav projects to date by one of my favorite artists / people I know :]
co-produced & mixed on the Cob 🤠
[ @jakecheriff ]
mastered by Edsel Holden [ @edselholden ]
🧑🔬 some fun tech insights from the process 👨🔬
-the instrumental interludes in “Thumbtack” are actually a handful of guitar lines that we recorded at half-speed so that they’d play back twice as fast and one octave higher than as recorded… the original plan was to use one of the lines but we found that adding a number of them together created a unique and delicious new texture that felt at home with the memory/time themes of the song
-almost all of the acoustic guitars on the record are recorded by James using his iPhone microphone… the second video shows just how little post-processing is going on PROVING that the iPhone is the best acoustic guitar mic (as long as you’re into the baked-in compression)!
-for more production details, send your question + a tip to @jakecheriff on Venmo 👾
