I might not be that good but I ain't that bad either!

Its about the journey to me. The progression as an angler. Constantly wanting to learn more. To challenge myself. The never-ending desire to explore something new. Whether that is a new piece of water or a new style of fishing.

You have to be bad at something to get good at it!

Last winter steelhead of the season! I have to say this season has had its ups and downs, but it's definitely been one of my better ones. I learned a lot, found a bunch of new water, and gained some confidence! It's almost time to start changing gears and get ready for springer season!

Parked the Clacka. Thought it was safe. Didn’t drop the anchor.

Next thing I know, the boat’s headed downstream, I’m stripping down to go swimming, and Fly Fish Dan is casting at it. 😂

Trying to get out of my waders, I felt like Houdini on a bad day.

He finally hooked it… on 4X tippet.

Lesson learned: tie off the boat or drop the damn anchor.

Want an erratic kick from your egg-sucking leech?

Tie the fly on with a non-slip loop knot, slide the bead down, and twist it to lock it against the knot.

That little bit of freedom, along with the position of the egg, changes the way the fly moves.

Here’s how to rig it.

What your streamer actually looks like to a fish.

Ryan rigged this egg-sucking leech with a loop knot, slid a bead down, and locked it against the knot.

The loop lets the fly move freely. The bead adds a pivot point, a little erratic action, and gives the whole thing the look of a small fish chasing an egg.

So he dropped a camera into a clear pool to see how it swims.

And this bull trout was into it.

Beautiful fish don't live in ugly places!

Sometimes you really have to put your work in to find a fish. This was one of those days. I put a ton of miles on my feet and hundreds of cast before I finally got the tug!

I normally bring way more gear than I need. And since I normally cover so much ground I needed to a way to downsize. So I picked up this chest pack from @squatchsurvivalgear hoping to help me with that.

It checked all the boxes I needed it to.

Force me to carry less gear ✅️
Easy carry and access 🔫 ✅️
Good organization compartments ✅️
Comfortable ✅️
Out of the way for climbing around river banks ✅️

MADE IN USA 🇺🇸 ✅️

It's been exactly what I needed it to be! Been out 4 times with it and never felt I didn't have what I needed. Absolutely my go to urban fishing pack from now on!

There is a specific kind of peace that only comes from floating on a sub-alpine lake, completely disconnected, watching an #Oros indicator dance in the ripples.

This buttery brown trout made the entire hike in worth it.

POV: Reasoning with a trout that has the exact energy of a toddler refusing to take off a shoe....😅

"Do you want to get off of there?!"

I know I can't be the only one who talks to fish when they'rebeing stubborn!

I was struggling to unhook it without a net, but the second it stopped fighting, I was finally able to pop the hook and send it home!

The river doesn’t require a 30-minute pre-meeting to align on the agenda for the actual meeting....

Catch, release, and straight back to the quarterly business review before anyone pings you on Teams.

If your daily productivity drops to absolute zero the second the sun comes out, hit follow. We don't judge over here. 🫡

The scariest thing in fly fishing isn't a bear... it’s your buddy's backcast 🫣🎣

Let's settle a massive boat debate. When the fish are holding on the "wrong" side of the drift boat, how are you getting your indicators over there?

1️⃣ The Head-Shaver: Blindly casting over your buddy's head and hoping they have health insurance.

2️⃣ The Roll Cast: Clean, tangle-free, but you're missing the far bank.

3️⃣ The Backcast Release: Spinning around to face the opposite bank and releasing on your backcast.

No matter the sketchiness of the cast, I'm locking it down with my Oros indicators. Super aerodynamic, less line tangles, and they actually stay put when you're ripping these weird boat casts.

What's your go-to move to save your partner's ears 👇
