We’ve just about caught our breath after a hectic month and have been looking back on an incredible week in Athens with our friends, our community, and our industry. Behind every vial: the print.

I was invited down to the @pochpac factory to see how our @eausovert 2ml Discovery Set vials are actually printed, and it’s a beautifully old-school, precise process.

It starts with a template, the design sized precisely so it sits right on the glass. The screen is coated in a light-sensitive emulsion that hardens under UV; the artwork masks out the design, keeping it soft so it washes away to leave a clean negative.

Then the screen goes on the machine, some of which date back to the 1950s. Organic ink goes in, and the squeegee draws it through a fine 120 mesh, fine enough to hold every detail. The colour is mixed by hand to match exactly; for us, a true black. The tooling, once wood, is now machined aluminium for precision. One by one, each vial is set in place and printed.

Then they’re cured slowly, fed through an oven that can take about an hour to carry a batch all the way through. They’ve run millions of samples this way.

And doing it like this, rather than feeding a minimum of 25,000 vials at once per SKU by machine, means independent brands like us can print smaller runs at a time.
