Travel puts you in rooms with people who remind you that reinvention has no expiration date. ✈️

Our founder, Elvina Beck, with the legendary Jane Fonda—whose life across film, fitness, entrepreneurship and activism proves that we don’t have to abandon one chapter to begin another.

For 14 years, Elvina has built PodShare around a simple belief: shared spaces create meaningful connections. That journey now spans hospitality, construction and travel technology—but the mission remains the same: make travel more accessible, social and human.

Every destination adds a chapter. Every person we meet can inspire the next one. 💛

We’re hitting the streets of Los Angeles to meet the founders, makers, and small business owners building something meaningful right here in our communities.

Our next stop? PodShare 🩷✨

Sometimes, the best businesses start with a simple question: What if there was a better way?

For Elvina Beck, founder of PodShare, that question was about housing.

What started from an idea during the 2008 recession grew into a new approach to shared living creating affordable spaces where people could not only stay, but connect and build community. Since launching in 2012, PodShare has transformed overlooked spaces across California into co-living homes.

But PodShare is about more than a place to sleep.

It’s about the people you meet, the community you build, and rethinking what a space can be. From converted churches and former studios to community dinners and shared living spaces, Elvina has continued to evolve the idea while staying rooted in connection.

And after more than a decade of building, adapting, and even navigating some of the business’s hardest moments, Elvina’s advice to entrepreneurs is simple:

“If you have any idea, just do it!” ✨

So we’re taking you inside PodShare to see the people, spaces, and ideas behind the business and what it really looks like to build something from an idea into something that lasts.

Come along as we experience entrepreneurship in the wild. 👀

I need some advice 🗣️👇

Since launching Deadline, I’ve won three pitch competitions in a row. It feels great, and it puts me directly in front of VC judges. But I'm hitting a wall with the "traction" question.

Should I keep entering pitch competitions for the exposure and the microphone? Or should I stop, put my head down, and just grind on cold emails and 1-on-1 networking to close this round?

There are pros and cons to both, but I want my funding to match my win streak. What would you do? Let me know in the comments! 💬 taken in Los Angeles, California by @podshare

🌴✈️ From LA to the show floor of @indhotelshowmiami:

1️⃣ @roommasterpms integration says hotels should consider renting out their conference rooms and gyms for incremental revenue

2️⃣ @airbnb offers a new "hotel" filter on their peer-to-peer platform 🏨

7️⃣ Rooftop party with @siteminder at the @moxyhotels was a great view 🥂

I started PodShare managing reservations in @google Calendar.

Eventually I found @cloudbeds and have been a customer ever since.

When I pitched Deadline to their team , I was invited with open arms!

I really appreciate that ya'll...and even getting a T-shirt that says

"The most expensive room is an empty room."

We are totally on the same [home]page.

Today our channel certification was approved 🎉

That means independent hotels using Cloudbeds can connect with Deadline more easily, with reservations flowing directly into their PMS and inventory staying in sync automatically.

It's one of those behind-the-scenes milestones nobody sees—but founders know they're both validation and a key to unlocking opportunity.

Huge thank you to Natalie, Chris, Lucy, and Sebastian for helping us get here. Looking forward to bringing even more independent hotels onto the platform! taken in Los Angeles, California by @podshare

One of my favorite things in real estate is a brilliant adaptive reuse project. 🏢✨

I recently checked into @hotel_lucile right in the heart of the Silver Lake community, and it is a stunning example of repurposing historical architecture.

It is a fully converted church that has been transformed into a gorgeous boutique hotel.

While the rooms are beautifully designed with everything you need—a comfortable bed, a dedicated work desk, a high-end bathroom, and windows that open to incredible courtyard views—what really stands out is how they maximized the property's footprint.

The developers managed to seamlessly integrate a full suite of amenities into the historic space:

- A rooftop lounge

- A full pool and gym

- A conference room (perfect for working remotely)

- A fantastic on-site restaurant (dinner here was delicious! 🍸)

It is a great reminder that with the right vision, older single-purpose buildings can find an incredibly stylish, multi-functional second life in hospitality.

[I am working on getting this gorgeous listing on Deadline for ya'll - stay tuned!]

I got an insider look into early-stage financing structures thanks to the Female Investors Club, and honestly... a bad deal isn't always a bad investor. Sometimes, it’s just an under-educated founder.

If you are raising money, here are 6 things you NEED to know:

1️⃣ SAFEs are the new standard (grab the free template from Y Combinator)

2️⃣ Convertible notes = Debt. SAFEs = Neither stock nor debt.

3️⃣ SAFEs lock in equity fast—model your stack early!

4️⃣ Guard your data room. Don't share docs too early.

5️⃣ Read the "drag-along" clause before you sign.

6️⃣ SAFEs give investors an observer seat, NOT a board seat.

Fundraising is a negotiation, not a favor. Which of these shocked you the most? Let me know in the comments! 💬👇 taken in Los Angeles, California by @podshare

14 years of PodShare in under 2 minutes!
Seeking a capital partner for the next one:

In 2012, right at the beginning of the sharing economy, I opened a tiny MVP pod hostel in Hollywood. Fast forward to today, and we've built across DTLA, Venice, Westwood, San Diego, San Francisco, and Santa Barbara!

Building these spaces meant getting really creative with real estate. We’ve converted a shut-down marijuana dispensary, a church, a karate studio, and an eyeglass shop into co-living communities! 🛠️🏢

COVID was incredibly tough—it wiped out our Venice, Westwood, and DTLA 2 locations. If not for the pandemic, we'd have 11 locations today instead of 7. But we kept fighting, kept building, and with a joint venture partner: Culver City can be next.

The best FREE business accelerator in Los Angeles 🌴🚀 (Zero Equity!)

Just graduated from the @_foundla x @grid110 Community Business Accelerator! 🎓🎉

If you are a founder in LA, I recommend this 2-month program to sharpen your skillsets.

It is completely FREE, they take ZERO equity, and you get access to 1-on-1 mentorship, speakers and resources.

But honestly, the best part was the cohort.

Building a business can be lonely, and having a group of other vetted founders to ask real operations questions and share daily struggles with was exactly what I needed.

Every city in America needs a non profit program like this! 💡👇

Their current application is open for https://www.grid110.org/clicks-mortar taken in Los Angeles, California by @podshare
