"Song" by Martha Collins. Read or listen to the poem in the October issue of POETRY at the bio link. The image displays a poem with a pink Pegasus icon and the name "Martha Collins" in pink. Poem text is in white: forgot to proofread my book
failed to break a fall
forgot to call my friend
failed to answer the call

failed to challenge the state
forgot to state the cause
forgot the lost, the least
failed to change those laws

forgot to welcome strangers
failed to stage a coup
failed to cool the earth
forgot to follow through

remember now the call
let cause infuse the song
remember the lost, the earth
let truth defuse the wrong by @poetryfoundation

"Ariadne" by Adrienne Su.

Read the rest of the poem in the October issue of POETRY at the bio link. #PoemOfTheDay A poem on a blue background with a pink Pegasus symbol and the name "Adrienne Su" in pink. Poem text: Keenly aware she was being predictable,
she admitted to finding Theseus irresistible
and killed off her theories, the desire to be equal.

It went against everything she’d ever professed.
She had become one more idiotic princess
wanting to be overpowered, wanting to be undressed. by @poetryfoundation

Meet Tariq Thompson (@tariqjthompson), one of our 2026 Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellows! 🎉

Tariq's poetry treats language as a time capsule, carrying grief, memory, and connection across the distance between writer and reader.

“That time is bent: the poem connects the writer and the reader, or perhaps all readers across time.”

Read more about Tariq: https://bit.ly/4hLsESh Portrait of Tariq Thompson with curly hair and glasses, wearing a light blue shirt, sitting in front of green foliage. Text reads: Poetry Foundation. Tariq Thompson. 2026 Ruth Lilly and Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg Poetry Fellow. by @poetryfoundation
