Our events extraordinaire now adds Region II Director to her impressive list of titles as she steps into this exciting new role with @nabjofficial.

Serving double duty as NABJ Chicago Co-Chair of Events & Fundraising and now NABJ Region II Director, we’re excited to continue working alongside you and can’t wait to see the impact you’ll make across the region. 🥂

📺 WATCH - Our Chicago: Promise of America

To be trusted with someone’s story is, I believe, the highest compliment a journalist can receive. To be trusted with the truth. To be trusted with context.

The Voting Rights Act of 1965 was one of the most effective legislative changes to the constitution. It protected Black folks’ right to vote and participate in the electoral process. But, it was not exclusive to us.

The Supreme Court has since gutted Section 2 of the Act and the full ramifications have yet to be seen.

Thank you to everyone who trusted us with their story. And an even bigger shout out to my partner in crime @cinematographer_sensehernandez. Your talent allows these stories to shine brighter. by @poinesha
