🚨 K-9 Sonic Shot by Armed Barricaded Suspect🚨
"Just after 7 a.m. Friday, Placer County Sheriff’s Office K9 Sonic was shot by an armed woman barricaded inside a home on Quarry Lane in Penryn. K9 Sonic was rushed to a veterinary hospital for treatment. During an exchange of gunfire, the woman, 30-year-old Linda Mullennix was struck.

Late Thursday evening detectives attempted to serve an arrest warrant for resisting/obstructing a peace officer (148 PC) and an eviction order signed by a judge on Mullennix. Mullennix also has a history of threatening neighbors, was known to be in possession of a gun, and has been the subject of multiple calls for service. Due to her known history, we attempted to contact and negotiate a peaceful resolution with her outside. When a detective tried to speak with her she ran inside. She then pointed a gun at the detective from a window inside the home and threatened to shoot him. Mullennix then barricaded herself inside and refused to come out.

Several deputies responded and attempted to get Mullinnex to surrender. Just after midnight, the Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team arrived, along with members of the Crisis Negotiation Team. Teams spent several hours attempting to get the woman to come outside and surrender. A number of tactics were attempted including the use of interior drones, contact through the crisis negotiation team via cell phone and a throw-phone, tear gas, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Rook, and non-lethal 40mm rounds.

Mullinnex destroyed multiple law enforcement drones throughout the night.

The Special Enforcement Team made entry into the house, the suspect engaged in gunfire and an officer-involved shooting occurred. K9 Sonic was shot by the suspect. The suspect was also hit and taken to the hospital. No deputies were injured.

Residents in the surrounding area were sent shelter-in-place notifications as deputies continued working to resolve the situation throughout the night.

🐾 Remembering K-9 Officer Cinco , A Beloved Member of Our CFD Family

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of one of the Chesapeake Fire Department's most beloved members, K9 Cinco.

Yesterday, Cinco experienced a sudden medical emergency while working alongside his handler, Master Deputy Fire Marshal Whit Gibbs. A veterinary examination revealed significant internal bleeding, leaving no opportunity for recovery. Cinco spent one final evening at home with Whit and his family, surrounded by love.

This morning, Cinco received a police motorcycle escort to Edinburgh Animal Hospital, where he was peacefully laid to rest, surrounded by loved ones. Members of our CFD family gathered to honor Cinco and support Whit.

Sworn into the department on December 12, 2019, Cinco became our first Accelerant Detection K9. As part of the ATF K9 program, Cinco and Whit assisted fire departments throughout the region with fire investigations.

While his investigative abilities were important, they represent only a small portion of his impact on our community.

Cinco was perhaps best known as a public education and fire safety ambassador. Whether visiting schools or attending community events, he had a remarkable ability to connect with people, especially children. Cinco was happiest when surrounded by kids, receiving attention and bringing smiles to their faces. He helped us connect with our community in ways few of us ever could.

Cinco was more than a working dog. He was a loyal partner, trusted companion, and cherished member of our CFD family. Our hearts are with Whit and his family.

We thank the Chesapeake Police Department and Chesapeake Sheriff's Office for Cinco's dignified escort, @edinburgh_animal_hospital for their compassion, and everyone who gathered to honor him.

Cinco's legacy extends far beyond the fires he helped investigate. His impact lives on in the countless smiles, friendships, and memories he created.

Rest easy, Cinco. Thank you for your faithful service, unconditional love, and the joy you brought to us all. 🐾

♥️ 𝐀 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐨’𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐰𝐞𝐥𝐥 ♥️

He never raised his right paw. He never stood before a crowd and promised to serve and protect. He never needed to.

Because every time he climbed into that patrol vehicle, every time he answered the call, and every time he ran toward danger without hesitation, he was living that oath.

He didn’t understand the weight of the badge or the meaning of the uniform. But he understood loyalty. He understood duty. And above all, he understood that the person standing beside him was worth protecting at any cost.

𝐇𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐚 𝐊𝟗. 𝐇𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫. 𝐀 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫. 𝐀 𝐛𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫. The one who would go first into the darkness, never questioning what waited on the other side.

He asked for no recognition, no medals, and no praise. Just the chance to do his job and return to the side of the handler he trusted with his life.

And when his final call came… 𝐇𝐞 𝐠𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐝.

Today, we don’t just say goodbye to a police K9. We salute a fallen officer who served with courage, fought with heart, and remained faithful to his duty until his very last breath.

K9 Dundee, you never had to speak the oath. You honored it with your life.

Rest easy, warrior. Your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

Rest Easy K-9 Officer Tyson 💙🕊️
"🐾 Honoring K9 Tyson: A Final Farewell 🖤💙

Today is a heartbreaking day for the Salinas Police Department as we say goodbye to one of our own, K9 Tyson.

For over four years, Tyson has faithfully served alongside his handler, helping protect our community and keeping his fellow officers safe. His dedication, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to service have made him an invaluable member of our department and our family.

Sadly, Tyson has been battling cancer, and today we had to say our final goodbye. While we wish his retirement could have been filled with years of well-deserved rest, we take comfort in knowing that his time with us was filled with purpose, service, and love. His loud distinguished bark was one of the most memorable traits about him and he will be missed dearly.

We are incredibly grateful to the K9 handlers and their four-legged partners from neighboring agencies who are joining us today to honor Tyson.

To K9 Tyson, thank you for your dedicated service, for the countless lives you helped keep safe, and for the loyalty and love you gave.

We’ll take it from here.

Rest easy, good boy. 🐾💙

🚨 K-9 Titan injured in the line of duty

Tonight, we’re asking everyone to pause and lift up a true hero.
K9 Titan is in critical condition at the emergency veterinary center, fighting for his life after being seriously injured in the line of duty.
Earlier this evening, Officer Mike Miller and Titan were deployed during an active search for a dangerous suspect. As trained and without hesitation, Titan placed himself between danger and his handler. In doing so, he sustained severe injuries during the apprehension.
Officer Miller stabilized his partner on scene and carried him to the ambulance himself — refusing to leave his side.
Titan is now in surgery. The next few hours are critical.
Titan isn’t just a “police dog.”
He’s Mike’s partner of four years.
He’s the dog who greets his kids at the door.
He’s family.
He took the hit so an officer could go home tonight.
Now we pray he gets to go home too.
Please drop an and keep Titan, Officer Miller, and their family in your thoughts.

Keep fighting, Titan. You’re the best boy.
