Powering community-led action to create safe and caring communities free from gendered violence.
Paint a nail | Spark a conversation | Sustain change
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
You've watched @alexpearce25 lead @freodockers all season. Did you notice his hand?

One nail, painted blue, every single game. Alex has worn it on and off the field since becoming a Polished Man ambassador in 2024. It's not superstition and it's not a fashion call. It takes 30 seconds before he straps up, and it stands for the 1 in 5 Australians over 15 who have experienced domestic or family violence. A small, visible way to start the conversations that lead to change.

On Saturday, Alex leads his side out against Brisbane in the biggest game of his career, one nail painted like every week before it. We'll be cheering him and the whole Freo team on.

Good luck Alex. Good luck Fremantle. Go get it!

What if changing the culture started with one conversation? That's the heart of our 2026 Polished Man campaign.

Real change happens when people we trust lead by example. When conversations happen in our homes, workplaces, sporting clubs and communities. When boys and men see healthier ways to show up for themselves and for others.

To every ambassador who has shared their story and stood alongside us, thank you. Your honesty, vulnerability and courage have brought this campaign to life. Every painted nail. Every conversation. Every story shared. Together, they help build communities where care, respect and equality become the norm.

Now it's your turn:

For many years I've painted my fingernails. Sometimes maybe for fashion, sometimes because why not? It's fun.

I can't say I started painting my nails because of @polishedman - but about 10 years ago a colleague asked me if that's why I painted my nails. It wasn't then. As the years have gone on, it's increasingly one of the reasons I do.

It gets me lots of assuming glances, and questionable facial expressions. Often comments, or laughs. I was never afraid of the judgement. In fact, I now encourage it.

Because sometimes, a little judgement can start a much bigger conversation. A conversation creates an opportunity to challenge attitudes, and play a tiny role in the future our world needs.

The reality is confronting. ONE IN FOUR Australian women has experienced physical or sexual violence from an intimate partner since the age of 15. Behind that statistic are real people, real experiences, and lives that have changed courses because of it.

As a father of two young boys, it’s becoming increasingly clear to me just how important it is to help set the example of wanting to help create a world where women and children feel safe in the presence of men. Where respect, accountability, and compassion are the standard, not the exception.

If painting my nails cops me some funny looks or some insecure comments, it can start a conversation. Imagine what all of us can achieve by continuing that conversation.

For too long I've waited for the perfect opportunity of an event to help raise funds through the @polishedman campaign. Their efforts support the prevention of violence and help create safer communities. Every donation, no matter the size, contributes to making a difference.

Men, if you can, please donate in the link on my bio and be part of the conversation. Because awareness is a starting point, but real change requires all of us.

The best measure of Polished Spaces? What the pilot partners in it are saying.

Gyms @bft_hawthorn and @vrtusbondi are proving the model first, and everything they learn is shaping how we bring this to workplaces, pubs and clubs next.

@rawsonkirkhope has spent years speaking openly about his family's experience of violence. Looking at who responds to his posts, he's noticed something: around 95% are women.

That silence matters. It isn't about blaming men. It's about men recognising they have a part to play in changing the culture that lets violence, intimidation and control continue.

Living true to yourself means showing up for the people in your life. Sometimes that means speaking up when it's uncomfortable.

As a gym owner, I feel compelled to speak out on this.
People of all genders should be considering this when in the gym 🙏

For four days, a Melbourne laneway disappeared under 24 giant inflatable boobs in every shape, size and skin tone. Bold, funny, impossible to walk past. That’s the whole point.

@wear_nala wear_nala built something you can’t ignore to make the case for representation the intimates industry has overlooked for far too long. We think about this a lot at Polished Man. Culture doesn’t change quietly. It changes when something makes you stop, look and have the conversation you’d usually skip. A painted nail. A laneway full of boobs. Different tactics, same belief: the conversations we find hardest are usually the ones worth having. Celebrating women’s bodies on their own terms, refusing to censor them, insisting every body is seen with respect. Nice work Wear Nala. Thanks for making people look. taken in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia by @polishedman

At the end of the day, we all want to feel safe, loved and cared for.

There's freedom in letting go of who you think you're supposed to be. When you can just be yourself, you show up better for the people around you, too.

Together, we can build a future where strength is vulnerability. A future free from violence.

With everything we’re seeing around domestic violence in this country, I think it’s more important than ever that we challenge what we’re teaching young men about masculinity.

Strength isn’t about power over someone else. It isn’t about intimidation, aggression or control.

It’s about how you treat people, particularly those who are more vulnerable than you.

I can’t change what I was exposed to growing up, but I can choose the example I set today.

And if I can help even one man understand that he doesn’t need to become the toughest person in the room to be worthy of respect, then that’s something I can be proud of.

We need to show the next generation that there’s another way to be strong.

For @lamak_14 the hardest part was finding the right person to talk to. Someone he trusted, who wouldn't judge him. Once he did, everything shifted.

Now he coaches the next generation through @one_ball.inc giving kids a safe space to play and, just as importantly, to talk.

His message is a simple one: "Speaking out, looking for help is actually strength, not a weakness."

Every person deserves to feel safe and cared for. When men show up for themselves and others, everyone wins.

Culture is shaped by the spaces around us. The gym, the pub, the boardroom, the locker rooms.

That's why we built Polished Spaces, our new program with workplace FDSV prevention experts Capyble, making the everyday spaces men move through safer for everyone.

We've been piloting since July. @vrtusbondi and @bft_hawthorn are first up, training their gyms to respond to harm and challenge rigid gender norms. And this is just the start.
