If you live in Westeros, there’s a pretty good chance that sooner or later… you will meet Dark Sister.

Jobs like @houseofthedragonhbo don’t come along every day, and I’m grateful for every minute of going to work with some of the best actors, directors, creatives and crew on our planet. (Don’t believe me? Check out their prosthetic work in the second slide and consider this your spoiler alert 🚨 )

I am forever indebted to @krjcastingltd and to Ryan Condal and @hbo for trusting me with this role.

Lord Jasper ‘Ironrod’ Wylde, Lord of the Rain House, Master of Laws to Viserys Targaryen, the first of his name, and to his successor and the one true King Aegon Targaryen, the second of his name, you turned out to be one sassy bitch, and it was my privilege to put on your cloak for five years.

Team Green forever. 🐉 💚

At the tail end of 2023, after a year in which our industry was reeling from the effects of two major strikes which had global reverberations, we shot an independent film in 11 days. During production it was called Henry, Henry and The Widow Tweed, which soon became just Henry Henry, then became Dead Man’s Money when the true title revealed itself in the edit.

A truly independent film, it played to festival audiences and picked up awards in USA, Canada, Australia, France, Italy, Belgium, Spain and many more places. Audiences vibed with it, critics said very nice things.

A very contained dark drama with black comedy, its core cast of five carry the story effortlessly. Ciaran McMenamin, Pat Shortt, Judith Roddy, Gerard Jordan and Kathy Kiera Clarke all sunk into their roles with aplomb.

It has already been acquired by Irelands national airline and tonight receives its premiere on Irelands national broadcaster @rteone. Our thanks to Derry O’Brien and the team at @networkirelandtelevision for handling the sales.

We recommend watching in the dark, preferably with your favourite tipple beside you, and hope you enjoy Dead Man’s Money, or, the Ballad of Henry, Henry and The Widow Tweed (its final title). by @polocinneide

There's a kind of magic that only shows up when there's no time to waste. Here's a glimpse behind the curtain of Aya. 12 days at Benburb Priory, where every hour mattered and the pressure never eased. And somehow, in that tight window something extraordinary took shape. The cast and crew were on their A game from the first frame to the last. No egos, no half-measures, just a room full of people giving everything they had to a story worth telling.

That's the strange alchemy of filmmaking under pressure. When there's nowhere to hide, people rise. And they rose. We've made something truly special. I feel it in my bones. A film born not from one vision but from the collective heart of everyone who stepped onto that set and chose to believe in it.

Sorry I couldn't tag everyone!

We're deep in the edit now, shaping the raw magic into its final form. Follow #ayafilm to walk this next stretch of the journey with us. #indie #film #ayahuasca taken in Benburb Priory by @polocinneide

Hahaha did yous honestly think I would forget to post it this year?

The twelfth of July is a big date here in the north. My earliest memories of it were as a nipper in Stiles in Antrim and watching what would be now considered a miniscule boney in comparison to some of today’s behemoths. It was contained and seemed like fun for those who attended. My family, West Belfast fenians, watched from the living room window.
We soon moved to Ballymena and on a few occasions local lads I ran around with would extend an invitation to attend the boney at the wimpy playing fields assuring me it was fun and I would be safe. I never accepted, though did go drinking one twelfth when I was about 17 with a Protestant pal and his big brother and it was just like a normal pub crawl, nothing celebratory or triumphal about it. Just a few pints.

Every year now we see flags or effigies on boneys and there’s a bit of a kerfuffle as a few local MLAs pay lip service to how shite it all is. Maybe someone slips from a boney during construction and injures themselves or worse. Fire brigades are called to save houses that have caught fire, ambulances contend with burn calls all night, we all get on with it, like it’s necessary collateral damage.

The character I played in that photo was called Nat McIlwaine. I lived with him for nine months or so in 2016 and got to know him quite well. If he were alive today he’d be the type of guy who would come up with the idea to put an effigy of an immigrant boat or a mosque atop a boney. He’d be dead proud of himself, thinking he’s some sort of hero. Then he’d get the local kids to do it all while he sits back and watches the shitshow he’s created unfold. McIlwaine’s redemption - for me - was that there was a spark of love in his heart and at one point he started questioning everything. It took the trench for him to reach that point.

Let’s try to end on a lighthearted note

“It was black and it was beautiful
The aroma was divine
We bought an eighth at half past eight
We were stoned by ten past nine
We skinned up in the living room and we were all half choked
And on the mantelpiece behind the clock
Was the HASH MY FATHER SMOKED

Park run 4.
I was feeling good y’all. First two kilometres flew by.
Then out of nowhere the right calf thought it would make itself known. Like a bullet in the back of the leg.
I was ready to go home but thought no. Dammit no. So I just walked.
So annoying, I know I would have broke the 30 minute mark this week but I pushed too hard. I reached for the stars. But I was struck down. My body and the universe reminding me that I am no longer the elite athlete, the relentless, muscular, agile Spartan warrior I once was.
I will break 30 minutes. I will return. Stronger. Harder. Faster. Sexier.
That would have been a better Daft Punk tune.
I’m genuinely shocked to have got round in 40 minutes. Leg up with an ice pack now.
Have a great Saturday!
