Aya (2027) Drama/Thriller Desperate to find a way to move on from the unsolved disappearance of his sister, Conor attends an illegal Ayahuasca plant medicine retreat in the wilds of rural Ireland. At first, it seems like he and the rest of the group are strangers brought together by chance. But soon, Conor realises that they are connected in ways greater than himself. As their brutal healing journey begins, delving deep into the darkness of their own minds, Conor knows that he must finally face his fears, as well as a person within the group, in order to unlock the truth about his sister's vanishing- a truth that can finally set him free. At the tail end of 2023, after a year in which our industry was reeling from the effects of two major strikes which had global reverberations, we shot an independent film in 11 days. During production it was called Henry, Henry and The Widow Tweed, which soon became just Henry Henry, then became Dead Man’s Money when the true title revealed itself in the edit. A truly independent film, it played to festival audiences and picked up awards in USA, Canada, Australia, France, Italy, Belgium, Spain and many more places. Audiences vibed with it, critics said very nice things. A very contained dark drama with black comedy, its core cast of five carry the story effortlessly. Ciaran McMenamin, Pat Shortt, Judith Roddy, Gerard Jordan and Kathy Kiera Clarke all sunk into their roles with aplomb. It has already been acquired by Irelands national airline and tonight receives its premiere on Irelands national broadcaster @rteone. Our thanks to Derry O’Brien and the team at @networkirelandtelevision for handling the sales. We recommend watching in the dark, preferably with your favourite tipple beside you, and hope you enjoy Dead Man’s Money, or, the Ballad of Henry, Henry and The Widow Tweed (its final title).

There's a kind of magic that only shows up when there's no time to waste. Here's a glimpse behind the curtain of Aya. 12 days at Benburb Priory, where every hour mattered and the pressure never eased. And somehow, in that tight window something extraordinary took shape. The cast and crew were on their A game from the first frame to the last. No egos, no half-measures, just a room full of people giving everything they had to a story worth telling. That's the strange alchemy of filmmaking under pressure. When there's nowhere to hide, people rise. And they rose. We've made something truly special. I feel it in my bones. A film born not from one vision but from the collective heart of everyone who stepped onto that set and chose to believe in it. Sorry I couldn't tag everyone! We're deep in the edit now, shaping the raw magic into its final form. Follow #ayafilm to walk this next stretch of the journey with us. #indie #film #ayahuasca

That's a wrap on my debut feature 'Aya'. Twelve days. A story I carried quietly for years, one made of old wounds and things I've never said out loud now brought to life through the hands and hearts of an entire team, in less time than most people take a holiday. There's something I've come to understand about 'Aya', both the film and the world it explores and that transformation doesn't happen alone. In plant medicine ceremonies, strangers arrive from different walks of life, carrying their own invisible weight, and somewhere in the shared experience, something shifts. Something opens. What we built on set over these twelve days felt like that. An eclectic, extraordinary mix of people with different crafts, backgrounds, stories, who came together and gave themselves fully to something greater than any one of us. To every single person who showed up. You trusted the process when the hours ran long and the light was fading. You found quiet miracles between action and cut, again and again, in the way only a true ensemble can. What started as my story became ours, shaped by all of you, carrying the fingerprints of every person who touched it. And I'll carry the memory of what we built together. The exhaustion, the laughter, the moments of grace none of us planned - for the rest of my life. Thank you. All of you. Now, to it’s time to put this beautiful jigsaw piece together. 'Aya' - coming soon! #ayafilm #independentfilm #filmmaking Photos by @katiejackson_photography
