I did it – I just finished mastering my 1,000th track. This is a huge milestone for me and my mastering work, especially since leaving my day job last year. I absolutely love mastering: getting to work with musicians, producers, and other engineers to finish a project is so rewarding, and the technical side of the work scratches my brain just right. I am so grateful that so many wonderful people have trusted me with the important final step of mastering their music. And I have to shout out @chordelectronicspro and @audeze_official for helping me get the tools I use on a daily basis to do the work I do. I wouldn’t be able to do the quality of work I’m proud to be doing without these tools. As you may have seen from the recent studio build videos, big changes are coming for @polymouthmastering mastering in 2027. I can’t wait to see where those lead and I looking forward to working on your music! by @samtorresnoise

Big fancy mastering speakers don’t mean as much in a room that isn’t acoustically treated properly, so while my mastering room’s walls and ceiling are open I’m taking the time to treat the room carefully. The plan is to make the walls and ceilings absorbers themselves, and add diffusion as needed. I’m doing one layer at a time on the ceiling, and measuring the acoustic bleed between upstairs and downstairs after each layer. It takes a lot of time, sweat, and money, but it will be worth it for the future home of @polymouthmastering! by @samtorresnoise

“Quarry”, the 2nd single from 𝘈𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵!, is out today 🕊️

Quarry started with the oldest material on this album: a tiny musical fragment that I had written down in a notebook over a decade ago. I rediscovered the fragment a few years ago and felt compelled to work on it… It’s a thread to a past musical self, and it also represents a journey to my present voice. In close collaboration with my love/producer Sam Torres, we made something that I’m immensely proud of.

Quarry features Max Yassky on drums, Clarice Jensen on cello, and Sam Torres on saxophone (and so much more).

This music is terrifying for me, heavy, and somehow also light and full of joy. When I landed on “alight”, I couldn’t shake how perfectly the word seemed to capture the spirit and range of this music. You can pre-order now on Bandcamp on vinyl, CD, or digital formats.

New Single streaming today! The Hunter and the Hunted (single version) is part of an 11 minute piece on my upcoming album that releases July 17th. Streaming everywhere. I’ll be playing this song at the album release show here on the A-frame with special guests @tlo.oth and @jonknaussmusic 🌿 A Nocturne for reflecting alone in the forest at night, the Hunter and the Hunted, influenced by the Palm mute one two chord progressions and rustic vocals of Tom Waits, draws from old world timbres with a haunting mandolin accompanying the Martin’s gentle rhythms. A hollow body electric filling the sound with pitch bending vibrato and an eerie verb along with the natural sounds of the crickets takes the listener straight into the woods. In one dimension The song is about the cycle of life and trying to understand its design, in another dimension it’s about navigating challenging relationships, and yet in another dimension it’s about finding love and appreciation for those who we misunderstood and realized we are all “one in the same.” Please put this song on your rotation and on repeat! Recorded entirely in Lone Cricket’s hand built cabin “The Nonagon,” the sophomore album from Lone Cricket features 6 tracks, 3 of which span over 30 minutes of the Album, flowing from one feeling to another, becoming more of a journey than any kind of standard arrangement. Meant to be listened to as a whole, however, there are still fun moments that stand alone in which excerpts were turned into singles. From the second movement of the first track, the first single titled “Spills of Gold, Mvmt. II” features a repeating, vocal verse and instrumental Fingerstyle guitar chorus that both transports listeners back in time while somehow letting their minds wander outside the stratosphere. Punch in, then punch out in 2.5 minutes with some meandering in the middle, Lone Cricket’s shadowy, rustic voice coupled with old Travis Picking on the Martin reminds us our roots, while the hollow body electric running through some experimental Chase Bliss pedals rushes in and out your ears, sweeping the listener into a strange dream, unable to locate time in it’s cyclical nature. 🌿mastered by @samtorresnoise @polymouthmastering 🌿#offgridcabin #singersongwriters #newsingle #ﬁngerstyleguitar by @samtorresnoise
