POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

In honor of Carol Ferren’s jersey retirement, we searched program archives and found a box of 16mm film from the 1980s that we were able to get digitized as an alumni event surprise. Jumpers don’t age!

After nine incredible seasons with PPWBB, Coach Roc is stepping away from the bench. 🧡💙

Raquel has been a major part of the growth of this program, helping us achieve success on and off the court. She has been on our staff for so many great program memories: tournament bids, travel trips, locker room celebrations, and more. Her commitment to our players and program, along with her energy and humor, made an incredible impact on PPWBB.

Thank you for everything, Coach Roc. We’re so grateful for you! ❤️ by @pomonapitzerwbb

The Pomona College Internship Program (PCIP) allowed Ali Bennett ’27 to learn what would be required of her should she pursue a career in sports analytics.

The San Francisco native and Sagehens women’s basketball player spent six weeks this summer as a data and analytics intern with the San Francisco Seagulls Baseball Academy. Her apprenticeship gave her the chance to work with game-day technologies that track player movement, keep live score and record gameplay from different angles on the field.

Between first pitches, she drew up scouting reports, cut video upon request and crafted a dashboard for players to see their statistics. She was also expected to be on top of communication and respectful of others’ time—the same habits that help her basketball team function.

“Quick and reliable communication helps build trust and makes everything run smoothly,” she says.

The Career Development Office’s PCIP summer experience provides financial support for students to build upon their academic pursuits with experiential learning and career development opportunities.

Shea Joko ’28 took learning to court this summer! Joko gained direct experience in the legal system under the Honorable Judge Jessica Kronstadt’s mentorship.

“As a political studies major at Pitzer College, it was inspiring to see the principles I study like justice, institutions, public policy, and the rule of law actually come to life,” said Joko.

Joko aspires to go to law school and become an attorney. She also currently plays basketball @pomonapitzerwbb.
