The Pomona College Internship Program (PCIP) allowed Ali Bennett ’27 to learn what would be required of her should she pursue a career in sports analytics.

The San Francisco native and Sagehens women’s basketball player spent six weeks this summer as a data and analytics intern with the San Francisco Seagulls Baseball Academy. Her apprenticeship gave her the chance to work with game-day technologies that track player movement, keep live score and record gameplay from different angles on the field.

Between first pitches, she drew up scouting reports, cut video upon request and crafted a dashboard for players to see their statistics. She was also expected to be on top of communication and respectful of others’ time—the same habits that help her basketball team function.

“Quick and reliable communication helps build trust and makes everything run smoothly,” she says.

The Career Development Office’s PCIP summer experience provides financial support for students to build upon their academic pursuits with experiential learning and career development opportunities.

Shea Joko ’28 took learning to court this summer! Joko gained direct experience in the legal system under the Honorable Judge Jessica Kronstadt’s mentorship.

“As a political studies major at Pitzer College, it was inspiring to see the principles I study like justice, institutions, public policy, and the rule of law actually come to life,” said Joko.

Joko aspires to go to law school and become an attorney. She also currently plays basketball @pomonapitzerwbb.

We don’t view this time of year as a “preseason” but rather a critical daily commitment that lays the foundation for how the season, league and playoffs will go. Our West High student athletes have dedicated themselves to this process, to be the best version of ourselves as a team. We are confident that will show on the court come November. Warriors in the community, the classroom and on the court!

COLLEGE COACHES - you are invited to attend any practice/workout. Please DM with any questions.

Lilly Papazian co 28. After a strong summer on the travel circuit, Lilly continues to show why she’s a top point guard on the floor. She makes teammates better with her court vision and passing, competes every possession, and takes pride in locking up opponents on defense. A good two-way guard who impacts the game beyond the box score. For college coaches looking for a high IQ point guard who leads, defends, and creates for others. She’s one to watch. 🏀

What an incredible experience 🇪🇸🏀
So grateful to have been part of the first foreign tour in Pomona-Pitzer Athletics history. Over the past week, we had the opportunity to play three games, explore Madrid, Toledo, Valencia, Tarragona, and Barcelona, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
A huge thank you to our tour guide, David, for showing us around each city with so much energy and enthusiasm. You made every stop more meaningful and helped make this trip so special.
Thank you to Coach Woo, Coach Roc, and Coach G for making this experience possible and for everything you do for our team both on and off the court.
And a special thank you to our seniors—Katie, Emily, Kellie, and Anna. We’re so lucky we got to share this trip with you for your final season. Thank you for your leadership, friendship, and everything you’ve given to this program.
So thankful for the chance to compete internationally, experience a new culture, and spend quality time together as a team. A trip we’ll never forget. 🧡💙 @beyondsportstours @pomonapitzerwbb
