As we close out another incredible year together, we want to take a moment to reflect, celebrate, and share what’s ahead.

None of this happens without our awesome authors and the amazing communities here in Michigan.

⭐ 2025 Year-End Highlights

This year was our biggest yet.

Total books sold: 1,607

School book fairs: Hosted at 15 elementary schools across Michigan

New programming: Launched our first summer Picture Book Writing Camps in Birmingham and St. Clair Shores

Community collaborations: @michiganstatefair, @thenestcollaborative1 and @detbookfest

Holiday Giveback: Donated 500 books to the students at Dickinson East Elementary through our annual Sponsor-a-Book initiative @hamtramckpublicschools

Growing collective: Now 32 authors strong and counting

Catalog expansion: Over 100 books offered

Looking forward: 11 schools already confirmed for Spring 2026

📚✨ Story time!

A couple years ago this lady, @reneebollaauthor, a fellow children’s book author, reached out to me on Instagram. She was moving to Michigan and asked if I wanted to meet up and share some ideas.

We instantly connected over our shared passion for storytelling and creating fun, unique local events 💖 As our friendship grew, we brainstormed an amazing idea: a traveling book fair featuring ONLY Michigan indie authors. Hence, “A Pop of Indie” was born.

Our kids were bringing home flyer after flyer of *other* book fair offerings, and we knew we wanted something more!

This initiative aims to bring diverse, independent books to schools and communities, sparking joy and a love for reading in young hearts.

Spent the day at the @michiganstatefair spreading the joy of reading. Thank you for partnering with @popofindie and supporting Michigan indie authors. It was so much fun sharing our stories with little readers. My favorite moment was when a little girl ran over to me to tell me she has my picture book, Finding Bunny, and it is her favorite book. She reads it every night and has memorized the words. 💜 It’s moments like this that make being an author worth it.

We will have a new author every 30 minutes, each author will be doing a reading and activities for the kids and most importantly, giving away free books!!!

On Sunday, Sept 6 from 10-3pm we will be at the My Michigan Farmland Stage with our full book fair.

Every 30 minutes, you can catch a new author doing a storytime and FREE activities.

We had so much fun at camp today. I read my debut picture book, Finding Bunny, then we did a handprint bunny craft.

Have you tried it? It’s simple.

🐰Have your child select their favorite colored paper.
💜Trace their hand.
🐰Cut out their handprint.
💜Cut off the middle finger.
🐰Fold down the pinky and the thumb finger.
💜Decorate!

The best little keepsake you can repeat every year.
