TO BE AWARE by Poppydene Lingham

In light of Deaf Awareness week I want to share my most recent work curated under the ‘Hatchwork’ programme. This piece was born in the rehearsal room through exploration, play, learning & collaboration. It was created surrounding significant factors of Deaf awareness with the aim of simply becoming aware. I wanted hearing audiences to become immersed in a world where maybe not everything is explained, whereas, Deaf audiences could sit back and allow their language to be explored and access to be available. This is a first draft and I cannot wait to involve more Deaf dancers, educate and collaborate with more of the hearing dance community and become the bridge to aid more awareness & access for Deaf movement artists.

The BIGGEST thank you goes to my cast
