Rest stop flowers. We always see inspiration everywhere we are. We are currently traveling for the holidays and these flowers in GA caught my eye. Those Opera pink flowers still in bloom in November are a treat.

Getting settled is going well. We are about 80% unpacked and organized. The realization that we brought entirely too much is at 100%. Goodwill drop offs are frequent and large. We just did our Christmas decor reduction and it was massive. Pretty sure Goodwill is putting in a Christmas annex with our stuff 😂

I look forward painting again but it is most likely not happening until January. I ordered a new art book recommended by @kellyhoernig.artist so that will be taunting me until I get to it. So for now, the rest of my life comes first. But come January I would love to paint daily!

Imagine spending 10 magical days discovering unspoiled landscapes of medieval villages perched on top of dramatic cliffs, rolling vineyard covered hills and acres upon acres of lavender, sunflower & poppy fields while creating a treasured keepsake field journal. Each day you start and finish surrounded by the enveloping hospitality of an all inclusive retreat facility leaving every ounce of your brain free for creativity, connection with other artist/makers, and imprinting the feelings of joy and wonder.

Pieces…

Imagine these cut out and assembled into a pretty floral cutout. That’s what’s coming next for these pink & green friends. They will be going into a special project @raemissigman and I are working on for Spring 2022. Because “it’s time”.

You know when there are quiet whispers in your mind that tell you it’s time to move from one place to another? A mental place. That’s what I hear. “It’s time”. I believe those quiet nudgings are vitally important to listen to and prepare.

First, December in all its warm, sparkly goodness. Then we get to work creating a space for those of you also yearning for a change of focus, a safe creative space where celebrating our individual ever present beauty and spreading kindness are essential. I believe it’s why we are here. I know it’s why @raemissigman was put in my life. So, we prepare.

Blobs of color play. Wobbly lines and marks. Just play.

Creatives, there seems to be something in the air. A discontent, a struggle, and in my own case - loneliness. I think the long term effects of what we have been through the past 18 months are arriving on everyone’s doorstep. We need to be extra kind to ourselves and each other. Take the extra step and reach out to each other. Ask each other - how are you really doing? Make creative dates with friends via FaceTime or Skype or whatever feels comfortable. Send mail (hello, Painted Paper Project!!). And don’t forget yourself. Buy grocery store flowers, treat yourself to your favorite drink, paint your toenails bright sunny colors. We all need connection and support. And play. Enjoy the pleasure of putting down color with no goals or expectation. Just art for art. Post it - just show up for art’s sake. No judgment, no comparison. Just COLOR. And call a friend!

The rhododendron are showing up in my brain. It’s such a short season and I so love them!

I loved all the comments on the flowers you look forward to each year! Such beauties mentioned! If you missed it, go back one post and join in the conversation about peonies, lilacs, lily of the valley etc.

Now when I see flowers, I am color mixing in my head! That’s permanent rose with a touch of van dyke green - and those leaves are hookers green with a touch of prussian blue. Colorlogue has changed me forever!

After months of intensive painting my #mijellomissiongold palette was a smeared, stained mess. Even my swatch cards were splattered and tattered. Yesterday I printed out new swatch cards (they are available in the Colorlogue classroom!) and spruced everything up. My tool of choice? Baby wipes. Now it is shiny! Next job -refilling nearly empty wells (Quin Rose and Hookers Green I am looking at you!)

Early Bird pricing still available (you save $30!)
