Stop checking on people who only check on you when they need something.”PLEASE recognize when a friendship has become one-sided instead of genuine.You know that homegirl/homeboy who can go three weeks without asking how you’re doing, but suddenly remembers your phone number when they need a ride, a favor, money, advice, or somebody to vent to? That’s the kind of pattern we calling out! What it really means is friendship should be mutual. You shouldn’t always be the one initiating conversations,checking in, or making plans.Pay attention to patterns. Everybody gets busy, and a late reply doesn’t automatically mean someone is using you. But if they consistently appear only when they need something, that’s worth noticing. Stop overextending yourself. You can love people without making yourself permanently available to solve their problems. Give relationships room to be reciprocal. Let people have opportunities to reach out, make plans, and show that they value you, too.
