Happy 4th Anniversary to Position in the Kitchen! 😍

Hey, Y'all!

Thank you for your support, love, and inspiration for this relatively new blog! I have learned a great deal on this journey. I hope that Position in the Kitchen has provided you with valuable insights and encouragement along the way. I cherish the seasons of celebration and the reminders of growth, as they keep the fire within me burning to move forward and build a strong foundation, from faith to faith.

History in the making: Jagged Edge, Gotta Be❤️

Hey Y’all!

I couldn’t put this off any longer. I had to share my wonderful experience of seeing Jagged Edge perform during their JE 2025 Heartbreak Tour live this month! You don’t have to know me personally to notice that I’m a huge fan of Jagged Edge. I’ve loved them since high school. I would love to officially meet them someday. My love and respect for them and R&B have deepened. I love-love and I love wholesome (love songs) 💯. The concert felt like a dream and was incredible (there’s no words to describe it). Trust me, I was cheesing the whole night!

Jagged Edge represented R&B well🔥. To me, they sounded ten times better in person. I didn’t want the concert to end; I could listen to them sing all night! This was one of the best days of my life!!!!!!😎

I know that part of this strength has come from you and the example you’ve set. I love you so much and will miss you deeply. Please tell Travis and Bro. Gary that I love them too.

History in the making: Ribault Senior High School (part 3)💕💕

Here’s to the newly renovated Jean Ribault Senior High School! Ribault is notable for being the first high school funded by the half-penny sales tax approved by Duval County voters in 2020. During a ribbon-cutting ceremony in August 2025, Principal Gregory Bostic remarked that the $120 million campus marks the beginning of a new chapter for Ribault, according to JaxToday.org.

This summer, all alumni from Ribault Senior High School gathered for the 2026 II Come Together Day event on June 13th!

I truly enjoyed reconnecting with everyone at the Ribault Come Together Day Alumni event this summer, but when I saw my favorite English teacher of all time, Mrs./Ms. Brenda Thomas (featured in the picture above on the right), my whole world paused for a moment. I hadn’t seen her since my senior year at Ribault, and this gathering was a day I will never forget. So many memories came flooding back, and the nostalgia was overwhelming!

I met many proud alumni that hot summer afternoon, representing graduating classes from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, and beyond. Feel free to explore additional pictures and read the full article at:

Food Extravaganza: Smoky Cheese & Pepperoni Pizza from scratch! 😁

FUN FACT:

Today is national cheese day! Gouda originated in Holland over 800 years ago. According to Widmer’s Cheese Cellars, the name (Gouda) comes from a village in southern Holland. The town of Edam shares the same valley. In the early days of Dutch cheesemaking, cheesemakers wrapped Gouda for export in red cloth to identify the variety. Today, Wisconsin producers carry on the tradition by covering the cheese with red wax or cellophane. Whereas Oaxaca cheese, better known as (Mozzarella of Mexico😉) is a semi-soft cheese that originated in Mexico with a flavor like a young Monterey jack but a texture like mozzarella or string cheese. It’s named after the state of Oaxaca in southern Mexico, where it originated. Oaxaca cheese is made with the same Italian string cheese process that is used to make mozzarella as noted by wisconsincheese.com.

INGREDIENTS:

Smoked Gouda Cheese

Oaxaca Cheese (it’s pronounced wa-ha-ka)

Unbleached all-purpose flour

Instant yeast

Salt

Olive Oil

Warm Water

Marinara sauce

Fennel seeds

Fresh basil

Hey Y’all!

In light of Memorial Day, I think this movie about marriage, growth, forgiveness & friendship is in my top 10😉.

I was in awe for a few days. Very wholesome and realistic movie. I loved how the soldier had his mature, well-rounded, full of wisdom grandfather as a father figure in his life.

General synopsis: Crushed by war and personal loss, a former soldier turned rodeo cowboy must rely on his faith to reclaim his will to live.

Honoring You: Rob Sweeting (1952-2026) 🎖

As a kid growing up in the 1980s, I was always captivated by Mr. Sweeting’s strong, confident, and pleasant voice. He seemed so friendly and down-to-earth! 😎

There are a few WJXT/News 4 Jax news reporters who will always be my all-time favorites: Rob Sweeting (30 year news anchor), Deborah Gianoulis (over 20 year news reporter, the co-anchor known for covering major local stories), Sam Kouvaris (35 plus years, the Sports Director during that decade), Tom Wills (49 years a long-time evening news anchor), and Mary Baer (30-year newscaster at WJXT/News 4 Jax)!

Thank you, Mr. Sweeting, for your big heart and warm welcome💕. Watching the news knowing we were in good hands meant a lot! Rest in peace. 🌻

Random Shots: Bright green recycled bicycles😉

Here's a brief overview: This vibrant neon green public art sculpture, made from recycled bicycles, was created by Morgan Ashurian in/around 2015. It draws inspiration from the concept of (Human Intersection). The sculpture is known to enhance the aesthetics of the campus and promote a spirited and visible artistic presence similar to Boston University. Weighing 600 pounds, it features a brightly painted cluster of training wheels, pedals, cranks, gears, and saddles perched atop a 16-foot pole, as noted by the College of General Studies. If you're visiting Florida this spring, be sure to stop by FSCJ Kent Campus to see this bold piece of art!
