In recognition of Wrongful Conviction Day this week, we’re sharing the opening two minutes of Post Conviction.

The film opens with a pattern. Many of the men you see here are still incarcerated, still fighting their cases, and still waiting to be heard.

Their stories reveal allegations of abuse connected to retired Chicago police Lt. Anthony Wojcik, whose name appears across multiple cases spanning years.

We’re excited to share that Post Conviction is an Official Selection of the 2026 San Quentin Film Festival, the first film festival to take place inside a prison.

And it goes beyond San Quentin. Through the festival’s partnership with the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, we’ll have the opportunity to make Post Conviction available to people incarcerated in every California state prison.

After five years making this film together, it means a lot to us that people who know this fight firsthand will have the chance to see it.

Thank you to @wallsturnedsideways and Beti films for partnering with ABC Reentry to host a screening of Post Conviction.

Post Conviction shines a light on the challenges within our criminal justice system and the long, often difficult journey to overturn a wrongful conviction. Through the stories of Roosevelt Myles and Jacky Burks, the film offers a rare look at the emotional, legal, and human realities of seeking justice.

Following the screening, attendees heard from Jacky Burks, who continues to fight to overturn his conviction, filmmaker Margaret Byrne, Roosevelt Myles, and Ashley Cohen, one of Roosevelt’s attorneys and Founder & Executive Director of ABC Reentry. Their discussion highlighted not only the fight for freedom, but also the importance of advocacy, community, and support long after someone walks out of prison.

If you’re in the Peoria area, we encourage you to attend tomorrow’s screening at the Peoria riverfront museum at 6 PM. This is more than a documentary, it’s an opportunity to better understand the lasting impact of wrongful convictions and why the work toward justice doesn’t end with release.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for an evening of thoughtful conversation and shared commitment to creating more second chances.

P.S. ABC has merch for sale! If you’re interested in buying something, please DM us. All proceeds go to furthering ABCs mission to help returning citizens succeed post incarceration. 🫶🏼 taken in Chicago, Illinois by @postconviction
