I think one of the biggest misconceptions about change is that it always begins with chaos. That something has to fall apart before we realise it's time to move on. But what about the quieter transitions? The ones where, on paper, everything looks exactly as it should. The job is good. The relationship is good. Life is good. And yet, something no longer fits. Not because you've failed. Not because you've made the wrong choices. Simply because you've outgrown the version of life that once suited you. It's a strange feeling. You know you're changing, but you can't quite name what you're changing into. A new career. A new relationship. A new country. A new purpose. Or perhaps just a new way of being yourself. I've been thinking about something. I think most of us have been pot bound. The phrase comes from gardening. A plant becomes pot bound when its roots have filled every available space. From the outside it can still look healthy, but underneath there's little room left to grow. The more I thought about it, the more I realised it wasn't just plants. It's careers. Relationships. Communities. Businesses. Places. Versions of ourselves. Pot Bound explores the lives, roles and identities we outgrow. Not because they were failures, but because they were never meant to hold us forever. I'm interested in the moments between chapters. The questions we don't always have answers to.
