Another of the beautiful work from my master class with @countyhallpottery

This piece was not only repaired by but also made by @pottiny.by.ari

I loved having her around, not only because she was assisting me with setting up and cleaning, but her honesty about the process was really refreshing.

Kintsugi, especially traditional kintsugi, is not for everyone. Not because the work is bad, but because there are a lot of repetitive steps without much change. Which just doesn’t give the dopamine hit some people need from their craft. Arianna did a great job, and her pottery is beautiful! Now after giving it a try, we know that the hand cramping sanding might not be for her. Just like trimming pots on a wheel is much too dizzying for me.

Wood firing magic!! Last weekend I was at @oxfordkilns with @culfordstudios for a 3-days wood firing with @ceramica_ekta and @robin.a.wilson.

I brought back some amazing bowls and I’m stunned by the richness and complexity wood firing adds to clay. The more I look at them the more details I notice, the drips, the traces of ashes, the golden colour taken by the white clay! Totally unexpected - want do again! taken in London, United Kingdom by @pottiny.by.ari

Gas firing experiments with metal (glazed and unglazed) and granite particles wedged into white clay. Before firing, metal chips are almost invisible little black dots, I’m stunned by how the gas kiln almost blows them up! The same happens with the most metal-rich granite particles!
