Introducing @powderpaintband
Track: Gargoyles

Describe something that happened this year that inspired you to make music.

“We’ve both dealt with a lot of shit this past year, a lot of it’s still too rough to talk about. Making music has been a big source of catharsis and escape. Put it this way - when life is good, I don’t feel the need to create. When things are bad, all I can think about is how much I want to work on songs.”

How has the changing political landscape the last 12 months impacted you personally?

“Oh you know - trying to stay hopeful in the face of rising modern fascism. We’re lucky to live in Brighton where we have the privilege of a big trans community who, like guerrilla operatives, continue to commit clandestine pisses in bathrooms we’re no longer allowed to.”

If your track were another great work of art, what would it be & why?

“We’d make great comic book heroes. Or villains. Actually that’s a great idea - any queer artists out there want to work on it with us?” by @powderpaintband

one week since @she_her_records dropped their incredible TDoV Compilation 2!! 💿

it's 17 lovingly curated tracks from trans fem musicians across europe, the US, and southeast asia, and it's a blast. she/her are posting interviews with a different contributing artist every day. please check it out, find some new music you love, and support trans fem artists and our art 🧡

the tr*nny review (idk if zuckerberg will let me say that uncensored sorry) called our song 'gargoyles' a "power pop reclamation of monstrosity" so that's pretty sick 🤘

what a beautiful experience filming the Wait music video for @powderpaintband 🖤💗🖤

most of my video ideas (/ideas in general) never make it to release, so it’s amazing to get to bring a vision like this so fully to life

I’ve wanted to do the classic ‘band in a forest’ music video forever. it was the most fun, the most hot (we shot this mid-August) and so, SO much planning

you would not believe how many moving parts there were to pulling this off. it took months of work, not to mention needing to account for things going wrong on the day - which three major things did!! but thanks to contingency plans, staying calm, and the kindness of others we ended up with *exactly* what we wanted and still finished up in enough time to skedaddle before they locked us in the car park. I have truly never been so proud of or felt so in sync with a team thank you all so much 💓

not pictured: @vespermorningstar (cinematographer and photographer extraordinaire) @hbhayesfisher (location scouter, prop maker and equipment driver) @willfoxworld (emergency drum bringer) and Holly’s brother-in-law Michael who doesn’t even know us but jumped in last-minute when Holly’s van broke down en-route and fully saved the day 🙌🙌🙌
