Stories like Tracey’s remind of why we organize in the first place. Too many working Philadelphians have dealt with the impact of being priced out of their own homes, all while billionaire corporations profit off our pain. Housing is a human right and we will not stop coming together under our city prioritizes the needs of the people.

History is often repeated when it isn't learned. Nathaniel Bacon's rebellion shows that the those in power are afraid to lose what they have when faced with people of different backgrounds coming together for a common cause. At POWER Camp, we discussed the vital importance of not letting divisiveness get the last word. We are stronger together than we are apart, and when we come together, true lasting change is imminent.

Philadelphia is currently under a Code Purple, meaning that the air quality is it a critical point where toxics can affect those with asthma and other health problems. The Canadian wildfires that impact our community also shed light on the harmful issues already existing in our PA counties. Burning trash is contaminating our air, and it's time to take a stand against these conditions. We must speak out against these abhorrent practices and demand justice because our communities deserve better.
