One way to make a cue more effective is to combine multiple cues that work toward the same outcome. That does not mean throwing unrelated cues together. They should reinforce the same position, so one cue can replace several and keep you from overthinking.

For me, “stack the ribs,” “ribcage down,” “big brace,” and “lock the knees and hips” are not separate ideas.
They are different cues for the same expectation.
The ribs stay stacked over the pelvis & your core stays braced. Your hips and knees start locked and finish locked. Instead of running through four cues under load, I can organize all of that with one. “Stand Tall”

Flipping the switch, Part 2 of 2

Learn to control your arousal level to balance strength. Stop with the excuses. “I lost my brace” “I rushed my setup”. That’s all in your control. It’s not bad luck, it’s poor execution.

Intentional core work has a lot of carryover. One of the biggest benefits is improving the athlete’s awareness and control of their brace through the movements and demands of the SBD.
Being able to actually feel and control your brace, abdominal pressure, and trunk position can create a better relationship between force and tension during setup.

Call your Bluff, Part 2 of 3

The further you get into a block, the higher the chance of fatigue affecting performance. If a fail happens early, save some juice for the remaining weeks.

You must train with a level of intent. Learn your training details from the inside out. These are some of the variables that influence how a block trends.
