I want to pick every inch of my routine apart, my shaky legs, jiggles, the flying arms - BUT I JUST CANT. This body has been my ARMOR these past 2 years. It has protected me through the absolute worst of times. It has walked through fire, comforted my fears, wiped my tears, contained my shattered heart and SAVED MY LIFE. I’m really proud of her. She never gave up on her. 😭 I have a lot to work on if I want to be competitive in this sport. And thank goodness bc I’m not done! I love it and I want to see what I can do. But I will no longer break me down. I may have “limitations” due to treatment but damn the man. I’ll add those to the burn pile too. Hormones? Who needs them? Joint pain? I’ll take 2. I have fucking won it all, even in last place, I won. I wanted to look like an Oscar up there so here is where I want to thank the academy. {😑🤦🏼‍♀️ 😂} My absolute favorite glam to date. @_beaute.for.ashes_ for the makeup @toxicangelzbikinis for the insane color of this suit bc it’s so different and gorg @jodiejfit_ifbbpro and @teamludachris for the support, love, big welcome and huge change in just a week 🫶🏼 @feinix_haus because my cancer crew over there is the most grateful and supportive women. The Jr Juicy J Fit Model ladies brought the energy to North Americans @garyudit @teamludachris 🚂💃🏽 @pr413 who joined the caboose train at the start of peak week placed 4th in her Masters 45+ Class! 🏅 We are ready to take our first improvement season together and build her physique overall as a well rounded athlete! And the tear drops as she is determined to have! 🍑 @tbrooke_fitjourney was in two very competitive lineups and brought her absolute best as we delivered on the feedback from Tampa to come in tighter and the assignment was understood! We have the feedback and are ready to execute it with the caboose loading on the track more as we tested the waters in fit model this season and the growth since last season to now at nationals in fit model is mind blowing! 🚂🛤️🍑 Back to bikini we go per Bill’s feedback and we are excited to grow! This prep asked for more than I expected to give. There was heartbreak. Hunger. Exhaustion. A few mornings when getting my ass to the gym felt like the actual win. There was also a beautiful new friendship I never saw coming, with someone who showed up for me when I needed it. Funny how life will take something away and quietly put something lovely in your path at the same time. 🤍 And now, we’re almost there. I have no idea what happens when I walk onto that stage. I know what I hope happens. 😏🍒 But I know one thing for damn sure: I gave this 110%. Every workout. Every stair. Every meal. Every choice on the days I felt unstoppable and the days I absolutely did not. So when my heels hit that stage, just know I’m walking out proud. Not because prep was perfect. My “probably benign” was wrong.⁠ ⁠ What happens when the diagnosis is wrong, but the consequences are real? 2020 was my first biopsy. 2024 was a probably benign diagnosis. I knew something was very wrong, I didn’t know what it was…but I knew. In this intimate personal essay, Kelly Gunn @pr413 takes us from childhood memories on her father’s sailboat to the shores of Montenegro, reflecting on grief, identity, and the unexpected ways life guides us back to ourselves. "If you’ve ever slept in the cockpit of a sailboat, you know the sound. Halyards tapping against the mast. The gentle rocking that eventually becomes so familiar you stop noticing it. Cool air on sunburned skin. A sky full of stars where a ceiling should have been. My dad passed away twenty-five years ago. The boat is long gone. But every time I hear a mast sing in the wind, I’m a little girl again. Funny how memory works. It doesn’t always return through photographs. Sometimes it arrives through sound. When I think about my dad, I don’t picture a living room or a camping trip. I picture water. If I pull out old photo albums, chances are he’s wearing sunglasses, squinting into the sun, standing at the helm, or has one of us girls on his lap. Most of my memories of him happened there. Most of our photographs did too. Maybe that’s why boats have never felt like objects to me. They’ve always felt like where life happened. Maybe that’s why I’ve always found my way back to the sea..."
