Part 2: Over the summer I challenged myself to photograph as many artists in their studios as possible. It was important to me to make each portrait as authentic to the artist as possible, trying to translate the colors, themes, materials, and space in each artists’ work to the photographic composition. I photographed twenty artists. Two favorites each from the final ten pictured here. Artists all tagged in the photos. I'm available for future portrait work. taken in Brooklyn, New York by @prattpals

Artist Profile: Samaira Wilson (b. 2001) @samairrrrrra Samaira is a first year MFA candidate studying painting and drawing at Pratt. She was born in Atlanta, GA and is currently based in Brooklyn, NY. Samaira has a BA in Studio Art and international Studies from Bard College and primarily works with acrylics, wall paint, India ink, and textiles. Her practice focuses on space-making, social identity, and world building. taken in Dock 72 by @prattpals

Artist Profile: Stacy Youn (b. 2000) @staygold.stacy Stacy is a first year MFA candidate studying Sculpture at Pratt. She was born in South Korea and currently based in Brooklyn, NY. Stacy has a BFA in Contemporary Art and primarily works with space installation and mixed media. Her practice often begins with encounters in new spaces, where she explores how emotions and perspective can take visual form. A representative example of her embodied practices is observing silhouettes. Youn’s work focuses on the relationship between space and the individual, reinterpreting the essence of space. By externalizing her inner world visually, she aims to reveal unseen emotions and draw audiences into the work, encouraging them to engage with its emotional depth. by @prattpals

Artist Profile: Marie Moeller (b. 2002) @mariemoellerart Marie is a second year MFA candidate studying Printmaking at Pratt. She was born in Houston, Texas, earned her BFA in Printmaking and Painting from Miami University and is currently based in Brooklyn. Marie uses a a variety of printmaking techniques including relief, silkscreen, and lithography. Her work explores humor and silliness, juxtaposed with the technical complexity of the print matrix to create colorful, weird imagery. Marie stage images with frivolous iconography and work in the multiple to disseminate her images and devalue the serious singular.
