_______ until the smoke clears.

So many words filled that blank for me working on this show…. Art continues to not just heal me but inspire me to dream of ways to bring that into our world.

Thanks forever @liminalmovementcollective for giving me that.

Talkin bout degrees

B.S. in Public Health: Magna Cum Laude, Honors and Milestone cords for representing BIPOC women in STEM.

I started school because I literally had nothing left to lose. I never thought I would go to school, it just wasn’t in my cards. If I can do anything in my life it’s to instill self-belief in those around me. You can do hard things, you can do them alone, you can do them unprepared, you can do them despite of obstacles and stories and stats stacked against you!

Thank you to my friends (s/o Asher & Meadow), family and community that held immense grace for me as a chronic DND and “imma be late” user. I love you, we did it! by @pre_yuuh

Shenbagam (magnolias) in Tamil tradition marks devotion, beauty shaped by long and often unseen work.

This year truly pushed me. I worked hard and took risks.

I presented at my first conference teaching dance as medicine at the National Organization of Arts and Health at NYU.
I curated my first art show, Homeplace, with over 30 local Black & Brown artists participating thanks to the support of my dance fam @liminalmovementcollective and sweet friends.
I balanced DEI work, teaching, gigging, performing, and full-time studying to finish my thesis.
I traveled the world and danced my way into new friendships.

None of this could happen alone. Healing came through choosing people that consistently chose me and encouraged me to dream wildly until it became reality. Thank you🤍

Is a tree a burden for the earth? Is a branch a burden for the tree? Is a fruit a burden for the branch?

What a gift to be able to grieve and laugh together. How could we ever think of ourselves as a burden?

Endlessly grateful to my friends and community for holding me so well in all my many imperfections, triumphs, tears and laughter. Lucky to love and live alongside you in the big, little, loud and silent ways.

ஆட்டம் தெரிந்தவளுக்கு ஆணுக்கு பயமில்லை
A woman who knows how to dance fears no man.

For those of us whose bodies have been told we don’t belong stepping on stage is more than just a performance.

To everyone who’s made space for me recently whether you were on stage, behind the scenes, or in the crowd, thank you! Thank you for seeing me and letting me have space to do what I love.
