The Heritage 🍸

40ml Hennessy VSOP
10ml Macadamia distilled
10ml Wattle seed syrup
10ml Saison Fallen Quince vermouth
2 dashes black walnut bitter

Now that the competition has come to an end, I want to share the story behind this cocktail. Because it has always meant far more to me than the competition itself.

This drink was inspired by my grandmother, who passed away just before the final.

One of my strongest childhood memories is watching her make Krayasart, a traditional Thai dessert filled with roasted peanuts and sesame. The smell of roasted nuts, the warmth of the kitchen, and the joy of sharing it with the whole family are memories I will always carry with me.

Growing up, Hennessy was also part of our family celebrations. It wasn’t just a bottle on the table. it was part of the moments that brought generations together.

Those memories inspired every ingredient in this cocktail. Australian wattle seed and macadamia reflect the roasted, nutty flavours of Krayasart while naturally complementing the vanilla, oak, and spice of Hennessy VSOP. A touch of quince vermouth lifts the fruit notes and keeps the cognac as the hero of the drink.

Sustainability is not only reducing waste but also respecting what we inherit whether our environment, our traditions, our culture, and the memories that are passed from one generation to the next. That’s why even the leftover macadamia became part of the garnish, giving every ingredient a purpose.

This cocktail is my tribute to my grandmother, to my family, and to the heritage that continues to live on through the moments we share.

“Hanami” means “flower viewing” 🌸 in Japanese culture, but for me, it represents something much deeper.
to celebrating fleeting moments with the people we care about.

This cocktail was inspired by my mother’s recent trip to Fukushima during cherry blossom season. Hearing her stories and seeing the atmosphere of Hanami made me fascinated by the culture and philosophy behind it. I was especially moved by how celebration in Japan can feel quiet, meaningful, and connected to nature and togetherness.

During sakura season in Japan, families and friends gather beneath blooming cherry blossom trees to eat, drink, laugh, and spend time together. The beauty of sakura only lasts for a short moment, which is why Hanami reminds people to slow down and appreciate the present.

I serve it with a homemade Hanami dango 🍡a traditional tri‑coloured sweet enjoyed during cherry blossom

For me, celebration is not always loud or extravagant. Sometimes it is sitting beneath blooming trees with people you care about, sharing drinks, food, and conversation while appreciating how temporary and beautiful life can be.

🌱 Why the order is Pink → White → Green

The colors are arranged to tell a story of the seasons:

• Pink = blossoms blooming
• White = winter fading
• Green = new life emerging

It’s like a small poem of nature on a single skewer.
