We are able to take your pencil drawing and turn it into a full scale 3D drawing and begin designing a custom manufacturing process to complete your blades! Early morning cutting going on here! We use a waterjet over a laser because we specifically cut blades and as you guys know, heat fucks up blades! So a laser is not ideal for cutting blade blanks. High pressured water with abrasive will give you an accurate cut and you don’t have to worry about normalizing your steel prior to heat treat. Action shot of our CNC router. This is an 1/8” 2 flute cutting the counterbores In a batch of knife handles. We get asked a lot why we use the router for most handle materials and it comes down to spindle speed. Our router is capable of 25,000 RPM as opposed to 10,000-13,000 RPM on a CNC mill. What this means is we can run the machine at a faster feed rate to get parts finished in about half the time so you save money! One of our newest in house capabilities is 4 axis vertical machining. What this means is virtually any type of steel or metal stock removal or precision removal with the repeatability of plus or minus .001”. This allows for us to square blade profiles, chamfer the corners on blades and machine precision knife bevels. Really enjoy working with a lot of the materials/woods we have used over the past few weeks. The general consensus among us has been for the #snakewood
