From Paris to New York. From L.A. to London. From Berlin to home. 🖤

Sharing new work by @prefab77_ — Lick Geordieland.

After celebrating some of the world’s most recognisable cities, the latest print in the “Lick” series brings it home, celebrating Geordie identity, humour and that pull back to where you belong.

For those who stayed, those who left and those who carry a little bit of Geordieland wherever they go.

A little piece of home, wherever you are.

Lick Geordieland

From Paris to New York. From L.A. to London. From Berlin to home.

The previous “Lick” prints have celebrated some of the world’s most recognisable cities, Paris,
New York, Los Angeles, London and Berlin, each with its own culture, attitude and visual
identity.

The series has always been about celebrating the places that leave a mark on us, the cities we love, the places we belong to, and the identities we carry with us wherever we go.
Now, for the latest edition, we’re bringing it home.

Introducing Lick Geordieland.

There’s something different about being a Geordie. It’s more than an accent, a place on a map or a way of speaking. It’s a sense of belonging. A shared humour, a shared history, a shared pride in the place where we’re from, and an unmistakable feeling that, wherever in the world you might
end up, a little bit of Geordieland goes with you.

A print for the people who live here. For those who were born here and moved away. For the
Geordies who’ve ended up in London, Sydney, New York, Dubai, Amsterdam or anywhere else around the world and still feel that unmistakable pull back home.

A little piece of home, wherever you are.

Over the years I’ve explored so many techniques, etching into metals, tiles, wood, card and each one throws up something different. The antique cricket bat has the distinction of being impervious to the elements yet peel back and the wood underneath is as fresh as it was 100 years ago. been a real fan of @jaune_art since seeing his figures then large scale pieces in Miami and Hong Kong. As a bit of a left leaning socially conscious artist I totally appreciate the message in his work. Making the invisible Hi-vis visible. To collaborate has been on the cards since day one and we finally did #stencil #seagull #yellowvest #jaune taken in Gateshead by @prefab77_

Create boldly. Make your mark. 🎨

Our new mural at LMA Newcastle is officially complete, a bold new piece inspired by the energy, creativity and character of the local creative scene.

Designed by @jimmyturrell & @prefab77_ and commissioned by Creative Central Ncl & LMA. The mural brings together graphic collage, bold illustration and our school colours to create something that feels right at home alongside our new campus.

It’s a celebration of the people, ideas and creativity that make Newcastle what it is.

Make sure to come see it for yourself and tag us in any photos. 📸

I’ve always loved and admired the work of @jimmyturrell so when the opportunity came to collaborate on a large-scale mural in the heart of Newcastle, it had to be done.

Jimmy and I have followed different paths as artists and Creative Directors, but there’s a shared language in the way we work, found and collected imagery, photography, print, montage and collage all sit at the core of what we do. The ingredients might be similar, but the outcomes are very different. And that’s exactly what made this collaboration so interesting.
Rather than trying to bend one style into the other, we wanted both voices to remain visible pulling the work apart, putting it back together, reacting to each other and finding the point where the two worlds meet.

The location couldn’t have been more fitting. An area of Newcastle where music, education and creativity have long been part of the DNA, and now home to the Newcastle campus of LMA, bringing another generation of musicians, performers and creatives into the city.

Working with Creative Central Newcastle, we created a pair of large-scale murals designed to sit together: two individual pieces, two different visual languages, connected by a shared energy and a celebration of the creative spirit of this part of the city.

Two artists. Two approaches. One wall-to-wall conversation.
