12th President of Bowling Green State University (@officialbgsu): #1 university in Ohio students would choose again (@wsj)
POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
There was no shortage of things to do, places to be or college games to watch on this beautiful October weekend, yet thousands upon thousands of you chose Bowling Green, @BGSU, the @MAC, the arts and, above all, our students. From one of the largest crowds at the Doyt in recent years to sellouts at both hockey games at the Slater Family Ice Arena, where so many cheered on our students in hard-fought battles until the very end, to full houses for An Evening of Broadway Songs and Stories with Ali Ewoldt and Phil Reno, Glow Bingo and celebrity magician Daniel Martin, we are grateful to everyone who made this weekend one to remember. The momentum at Bowling Green is driven by each of us, and we are so glad more and more students, families, alumni, supporters and community members continue to experience Bowling Green! Ay Ziggy Zoomba! A group of four people are standing close together, smiling at a sports stadium. The crowd in the background is seated, enjoying a sunny day. They are wearing casual, warm clothing. A message from @pres_rogers, Dr. Sandra Earle, Coach @eddiegeorge2727, @bgsufalconmarchingband Director Jon Waters, @bgfalconhockey Coach Dennis Williams, @bgfalcons Athletic Director Derek van der Merwe, ahead of one of the biggest weekends of events in Bowling Green history. #AYZIGGY Falcon Family,
This Oct. 16-18, Bowling Green will host one of the biggest weekends of events in our history, with something for everyone: music, including Broadway stars, sports, food, science, art and entertainment.
On Friday, celebrity magician Daniel Martin will be on campus for his new tour, following appearances on Netflix, CBS, and more. The nationally ranked BGSU Hockey team will be home Friday and Saturday at the Slater Family Ice Arena. We'll also have art and music shows, including the New Music Festival, a planetarium showing, and more.
On Saturday, BGSU Football is home against Ball State following back-to-back MAC wins with a halftime performance by the largest college marching band in the country. Tailgates start in the morning. Men's Rugby is also home Saturday at the Roger Mazzarella Rugby Field.
We're especially looking forward to Saturday night's, "An Evening of Broadway Songs and Stories:
Ali Ewoldt and Phil Reno," hosted by Arts for All. Ali Ewoldt starred in Broadway's "The Phantom of the Opera," "Les Miserables," and "The King and I," and Phil Reno is a Broadway music director, conductor and two-time Grammy-nominated producer of original cast recordings.
Most of the events are free for all students, but arrive early for non-ticketed events, which are first come, first served! More information can be found at bgsu.edu/familyweekend. Bowling Green is nationally recognized for the student experience, and we hope you'll take advantage of a great fall weekend in Bowling Green.
Ay Ziggy Zoomba! by @pres_rogers

Bowling Green State University mourns the passing of one of our most recognized and celebrated alumni, Academy Award and Emmy Award winner and legendary actress, Eva Marie Saint ‘46, ‘82 (Hon.). As a student, Eva Marie demonstrated what was possible at a university like Bowling Green, exploring career paths and discovering a talent for acting while at BGSU.

With a legendary career that spanned an incredible seven decades, Eva Marie created a lasting legacy in the entertainment industry. Even with international acclaim, she remained kind, humble and grounded, never forgetting the people, places and priorities that shaped who she was and what she valued most.

We are grateful for Eva Marie’s wisdom and unwavering support of Bowling Green State University throughout her distinguished career. She remained engaged with her alma mater for decades, and it was the University’s great honor to award Eva Marie with an honorary doctorate of performing arts in 1982, and later, a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018. Today, and in all the years to follow, our students, faculty, staff, alumni and the community will visit the Eva Marie Saint Theatre in the Wolfe Centre for the Arts, named in honor of Eva Marie, a distinguished alumna.

On a personal note, Sandy and I deeply enjoyed Eva Marie’s humor, humility and elegance, and will forever cherish our time with her. We send our deepest sympathies to Eva Marie’s family, especially her children, and her many loved ones. Hollywood, and Bowling Green, Ohio, are dimmer tonight. An empty theater with red and black seating is shown, with a spotlight illuminating a stage door. The atmosphere is dimly lit, creating a dramatic ambiance. by @pres_rogers

President Emeritus Mazey was a transformational leader for Bowling Green State University, shaping our academic growth and offerings, partnerships, numerous campus revitalization projects, philanthropic giving and an enhanced national profile for Bowling Green. As we began Bowling Green State University homecoming week, it was wonderful to gather together with our learning community and dedicate the Mary Ellen Mazey Quadrangle. At the heart of our campus, this space will forever stand as a reflection of her legacy. Our momentum continues: Bowling Green was recently named by @usnews and World Report as the top public university in Ohio – and No. 3 in the Midwest – for first-year experiences, recognizing the University’s comprehensive efforts to support students from the moment they arrive on campus.

In U.S. News and World Report’s 2027 Best Colleges rankings, BGSU also climbed in the overall rankings, placing among the top 17% nationwide of more than 1,700 four-year colleges and universities included in the ranking.

Bowling Green’s first-of-its-kind Career and Life Design program is a major contributor to this ranking and to record enrollment, retention and graduation rates - providing students with the resources, connections and support they need to succeed from their first day on campus to graduation and beyond. This Sept. 11th marks the 25th anniversary of the tragedy at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon and in the skies over Pennsylvania. Last night, the Bowling Green community came together to honor and remember. Today, 2,977 flags stand in front of University Hall, representing the lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, including two large flags honoring BGSU alumni Kathy Hawk Nicosia ‘69 and William Ruth ‘71, ‘73, who were among the victims that day. Twenty-five years later, our resiliency endures. We will #NeverForget. taken in Bowling Green State University by @pres_rogers

The Falcon Marching Band received another surprise after practice today! Sherri Garner Brumbaugh ‘93, president and CEO of Garner Trucking, Inc. donated a fully customized, wrapped semitrailer to transport instruments and uniforms. Not only can you hear the Band from a mile away, you’ll now see them coming! We are so grateful for all of the support and excitement our community continues to show the Band.
