"[...] they want me to remember their memories and i keep on remembering mine" - Lucille Clifton

Thank you to the National Trust for Historic Preservation (@savingplaces) for selecting me as one of the 2026 Diversity in Preservation Scholars. Hearing inspirational stories from leaders, change-makers and advocates from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds singing the same song in a time, when they make you afraid of your own history.

"Look up, look around, look beyond and look within and ask yourself - Who is this for?" - Yiselle Santos Rivera

The summit was a great event, connecting with new visionaries, bringing together leaders from organizations such as @aianational @apiahip @mdhistoricaltrust @latinoheritage_ig - when #section106 is in crisis with the same mission.

"That absence of representation doesn't mean we were absent." - Sehila Mota Casper

I'm honored to have been selected as a 2026 Diversity in Preservation Scholar by the National Trust for Historic Preservation (@savingplaces)

Through this scholarship, I'll be participating in the National Preservation Summit alongside a cohort of emerging preservation leaders from across the country. The program supports individuals whose work advances a more inclusive preservation movement and provides a unique opportunity to engage with national leaders, practitioners, and advocates shaping the future of the field.

One aspect I'm especially excited about is the mentorship program, which connects scholars with accomplished professionals from a variety of disciplines. Throughout my career, mentorship has played a critical role in my growth, and I look forward to learning from leaders whose experiences span preservation, planning, architecture, advocacy, and community engagement.

As a professional focused on modernization and historic preservation, and as the AIA National Associates Committee STAR for DC I'm particularly interested in exploring how preservation can continue to serve as a bridge between protecting our shared heritage and creating a more equitable future for our communities and our profession.

Thank you to the National Trust for Historic Preservation for this opportunity. I look forward to the conversations, connections, and insights that will help me continue advancing preservation leadership, mentorship, and advocacy at both the local and national levels.

Honored to be invited back to @aiasorg Grassroots 2026 to represent the National Associates Committee; and lead an AIA focus group alongside fellow 🦆 Chan Park and Saakshi Terway - Hearing from students how the AIA can support AIAS in schools and support transition from studio to practice can help them.

A special thank you to Kimberly Tuttle, Executive Director of AIAS, and Luke Vastano, AIAS Vice Chair, for the invitation to moderate "Leadership Starts Here: Lessons from Emerging Professionals."

It was a privilege to hear from recent graduates Julia Andor, Joshua Cato, and Andrew Tillman, who candidly shared their experiences navigating the early years of practice, building confidence, embracing lifelong learning, and discovering what leadership truly means beyond graduation.

Glad to connect with the @aianational board at events like these. The future of our profession is bright. These emerging professionals demonstrated the passion, curiosity, and commitment needed to shape a more collaborative, inclusive, and innovative architectural community. The next generation of leaders is already here, and they are ready to make an impact.

A year ago, this was just a group chat of architect moms. One having returned to work after maternity leave, one on maternity leave and one about to enter it.

At @aianational #AIA26 the group chat made it to the national stage of our profession, and it became my first time speaking.

We tackled a topic our profession still struggles to talk about openly: motherhood. What started as late-night messages about balancing deadlines, diapers, and career growth turned into a room having the conversation many of us have been craving.

Proof that sometimes the ideas we need most start with, “Is anyone else feeling this too?”

Drop in the comments below about how caregiving in this profession feels for you? ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️

Shoutout to @mamava_vt 's lactation pods throughout the @sdconventionctr for allowing me to fully participate in the conference activities.

Community. Growth. Visionary.
@aianational #conferenceonarchitecture in San Diego was equal parts inspiration and grounding.

The three keynotes challenged us to think bigger—about design’s role in climate resilience, equity, and the future of cities—while the ArchiTalks reminded me how powerful it is when architects share work in progress, not just the polished end result.

Wednesday’s History of Tijuana Architecture Tour offered a deeper understanding of cross-border influence, adaptability, and the layered identity of place—an unforgettable lens on context and culture. And Saturday morning in Balboa Park, learning about historic preservation efforts with the @balboaparkcommitteeof100 reinforced how stewardship is as critical as innovation.

Grateful to have also hosted the @architectsfoundation Emerging Professional Grant recipients alongside colleagues from the Strategic Partnership Workgroup of the National Associates Committee #AIANAC—energized by the next generation shaping our profession.

Still in awe of my very first book signing event with the @immigrant_architects_coalition, humbled to be a co-author and have my story out there.

And blessed to be part of NAC🦆🦆🦆 and events like these where we come back together like a big reunion and celebrating our work and impact together.

Leaving #AIA26 with new ideas, renewed purpose, and a deeper appreciation for the communities we design with and for. taken in San Diego, California by @preservitect

Grateful to everyone who joined @districthrc May's Ward Tour of the Cannon House Office Building Renewal. This century‑old landmark—Congress’s oldest office building—continues to evolve through a multi‑phase rehabilitation that preserves its Beaux‑Arts character while upgrading systems for modern use.

Thank you Julie Pelletier @uscapitol and Alexander Cook and Melissa Hendrix from Shalom Baranes Associates for giving us the insights on how preservation and modernization can work hand in hand. Stewardship in action across Capitol Hill.
